Assistant Teacher Training Program (ATTP)

Dance Unlimited is proud to present the Assistant Teacher Training Program (ATTP) happening July 2017!

What is the ATTP?

The ATTP provides dancers with the training, guidance and support, which will allow them to be successful assistants within the classroom. It also provides students with the opportunity to obtain valuable work experience while continuing their education in the art of dance. Dance Unlimited is excited to offer this program in order to encourage and provide further support in our classes with the enthusiasm of students interested in volunteering their time to make a difference.

What does the ATTP consist of?

Year 1 –Year 1 consists of 9 hours of classroom and practical training. The training includes topics such as anatomy, technique, musicality, vocabulary, creating lesson plans, classroom etiquette, teaching methods, and various other topics. Each student is provided with a binder full of teaching materials upon the start of the program and will be required to pass certain requirements by the end in order to achieve their certificate of completion.

Year 2 - The second year of the ATTP consists of 3 additional hours of training. This training focuses on the practical aspect of teaching as well as choreographing. Each second year student will be given an assignment approximately one week prior to the scheduled training. This assignment will require each student to use the skills they acquired throughout their first year of assisting while also challenging their leadership and organizational abilities.

Who can apply for the ATTP?

Any Dance Unlimited student the age of 12 (age as of Dec. 31/17) and above can apply for the ATTP. Those who are interested in applying may fill out the application. Only those who are selected will be invited to attend the training session held July 24-26, 2017. To apply, complete the following form by June 1st, 2017.

YEAR 1 Application -

YEAR 2 Application -

What are the costs associated to the ATTP?

Year 1 - $195.00Year 2 - $65.00

Our goal in the ATTP is to nurture a student’s desire to teach and provide them with the necessary skills to succeed. The ATTP is designed to equip students with a foundation of teaching skills and competencies, which may allow them to become student teachers and permanent teachers in the future. Successful ATTP candidates will be placed as assistants into classes in late August/early September.

If you have any further questions regarding the ATTP or application process, please contact Lindsay Tusche or Chelsea Cofield at .
