ASENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. DANNY R. WEBB, PRESIDENT OF JOHN DE LA HOWE SCHOOL, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER TEN YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE AT THE SCHOOL, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate have learned that Dr. Danny R. Webbwill begin a welldeserved retirement after twenty years as a dedicatededucator, the last ten of which have been as a distinguished administrative member of John de la Howe School; and

Whereas, a native of Seneca, he received his early education in the Oconee County School System and graduated from Seneca High School; and

Whereas, Dr. Webb earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Morris College and a master’s degree in public administration from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. He is also a graduate of the Governors EXCEL Leadership Institute for managers in South Carolina government; and

Whereas, he completed studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and earned a doctorate in theology; and

Whereas, for more than twentyfive years, Dr. Webb served as a State Trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, achieving the rank of lieutenant; and

Whereas, he also served as an adjunct professor of humanities at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina, for ten years; and

Whereas, upon completion of his tenure with the Highway Patrol, Dr. Webb served as the director of corporate relations for enrollment with Southern Wesleyan University; and

Whereas, in 2007,he began work at John de la Howe School as the admissions coordinator before being named the director of children and family services. Since June 2014, hehas served as the president of John de la Howe School; and

Whereas, in 2007, Dr. Webb received the call to preach, and he was installed in 2009as the thirteenth pastor of the historic Old Mount Zion Baptist Church in Epworth in Greenwood County, which is theboyhood church of Dr. Benjamin E.Mays; and

Whereas, along with his pastoral duties, he has served as a moderator, conducted revivals, and trained and installed pastors. He established the Anointed Hands Driving Academy of Greenwood in 2016, serving Abbeville, Greenwood, Edgefield, McCormick, and Saluda counties; and

Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Melissa Richardson Webb of Mount Carmel, Dr. Webb reared three fine children: LaToya, Daniel, and David; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Senateappreciates the unparalleled dedication that Danny Webb has devoted to serving the citizens of the Palmetto State, and the members wishhim many years of enjoyment in his wellearned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Danny R. Webb, President of John de la Howe School, upon the occasion of his retirement after ten years of exemplary service at the school, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Danny R. Webb.
