AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO PROCLAIM APRIL 1722, 2017, AS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK IN THE PALMETTO STATE.

Whereas, the week of April 1722, 2017, has been designated as National Community Development Week by the National Community Development Association to celebrate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program; and

Whereas, the CDBG Program offers annual funding and flexibility to local communities for the provision of decent, safe, and affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities to low and moderateincome residents; and

Whereas, the HOME Program likewise provides fundingto local communities to create decent, safe, and affordable housing for lowincome residents; and

Whereas, bothprograms have made extensive contributions to the viability of the housing stock, infrastructure, public services, and economic vitality of our communities. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, proclaim April 1722, 2017, as Community Development Week in the Palmetto State.
