Changes, Challenges, Solutions…

For 2014, the pressure is on to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to the ever-increasing costs of work-related injuries. Though workers’ comp claims have declined significantly in Hawaii, injuries that do occur are often more serious and more costly.

Recent statistics for non-fatal, occupational injuries & illnesses in Hawaii indicate a rate of 4.0 cases for every 100 workers – more than half of which required time-off (averaging 10 days) or job transfers or restrictions. The cost? Through 5/04/14 – the cost of 468 claims was more than $44 million, including compensation and medical costs.

Compacting that challenge, new legislation & case decisions affecting WC, ADA & FMLA will impact Hawaii employers from 2014 on. The plague of Musculoskeletal Disorders, which can occur on and off the job, present daunting challenges which, left unchecked, will cost an estimated eighty cents of every Workers’Comp dollar in Hawaii and untold millions in lost productivity.

In response to these challenges, Managing Workers’ Comp Claims in Hawaii presents this one-day, 6 session agenda focused on practical solutions and presented by a faculty of eminently qualified professionals – all of whom reside in Hawaii.

In This timely one-day conference, you’ll learn from a highly respected faculty…

•New Legislation & case decisions that will shape your WC, ADA & FMLA policies for 2014 & beyond

•How to prevent many of the MSDs that may average as much as $50k per injury, not including time off pay

•Cost containment strategies when injuries occur

•How to lower your MOD & reduce WC premiums and other costs

•Recent changes in Employee Leave laws and how to determine which applies when in HI - FMLA , ADA or both.

•Tools & strategies you can use in Employee Wellness to launch a new program or boost results from an existing one.
