EFTPOS cheat sheet

The following provides basic operational instructions for your EFTPOS machines.

Please note that there is an instruction booklet for troubleshooting which also has a Westpac phone number should you need to contact them for any reason.

To turn on

Press and hold green “tick” button until machine begins to boot up (approx. 5 seconds)

Machine will boot up in approx. 15-30 seconds

(Icons on top of screen show battery level, Bluetooth and 3G signal)

Machine is now ready for use.

To accept a donation

Enter the agreed donation amount using number keys for dollars and cents (EG: If the donation is $10, you key in 1000, if $100 key in 10000 and so on)

Press the green tick (enter) button.

Press green tick button again (to bypass the “cash out option”)

Ask donor to tap, swipe or insert card

Choose Cheque, Savings or Credit (NB: Tap will self-process a credit card transaction and will only require a PIN if the amount exceeds $100)

Have the donor enter their PIN (if required)

Press green tick button to process the donation

Machine should then print a merchant receipt which you keep.

Machine will then ask if you want to print a receipt for the donor, press green tick button. NB: You will also be required to write a Red Shield receipt and note EFTPOS donation at the top!Hand EFTPOS and RSA receipt to donor. This ensures we gain all the donor details.

DONE

(NB: If you need to go back one or two steps during the transaction process simply press the red X button).

End of day report

When you’ve finished accepting donations for the day

Press “menu” on the touch screen

Press “settlement”

Press “cutover”

This can only be done once every 24 hours

Keep printouts for counting house

If you don’t perform end of day, doesn’t matter, all transactions through the terminals will automatically be processed by Westpac and are subject to a daily cut off at 9.30pm (AEST). If the terminal is turned off at the time of auto settlement (9.30pm) the machine will prompt you to perform a manual settlement the next time it is turned on.

To turn off machine

Press and hold red X button (Machine will beep continuously)

Lift finger off button when it stops beeping

When the screen goes blank, machine is off.

Other things you may need to know

Everything you need is in the box.

Machine will use 3G signals to communicate.

Best to charge the machine overnight, battery will last around 6 hours when operating but can be plugged into mains power if you need to operate it that way.

To reprint a receipt press “menu”, “down arrow”, “reprint receipt”

To change paper roll, lift plastic flap behind the paper slot. Cover will pop open. Take out old roll core and simply drop new roll in with loose end at the front. Hold up the leading edge and clip lid shut.
