DATE AND LOCATION

The Camporee will take place from November 4-6, 2016. Camping will be at Billy Lane Lauffer Middle School, 5385 East Littletown Road, Tucson, AZ. Activities will be held at Pima Air and Space Museum, 6000 E. Valencia Road, Tucson, AZ and Billy Lauffer Middle School.

REGISTRATION/FEES

The registration site is Fees are $12.00 per person on or before September 30, 2016, $15.00 per person from October 1-15, and $18.00 per person after October 15.

ARRIVAL

Check in is from 5:30 – 8:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2016. Please follow the directions of the Camporee Staff at the entrance to the school parking lot. Once your entire unit has arrived and is in the parking area, the SPL (or equivalent) and Unit Leader will check the unit in at the registration area. Please bring your Unit Roster and Health Forms. You will be issued wrist bands for each youth and adult, which must be worn at all times during the Camporee. After the unit has checked in, one vehicle per unit will be allowed to take Unit gear to the road to the campsites. Once unloaded, the vehicle must return to the parking area. No vehicles or trailers will be allowed to remain on the access road, as it is an emergency lane. No vehicles or trailers are allowed on the field. Scouts and Scouters should carry their personal gear to the campsite.

If you are arriving on Saturday, please plan your arrival time for between 7:00- 7:45 AM.

CAMPSITE ASSIGNMENTS

At check in, a member of the Commissioner Staff will escort the unit to their camping area. Please use as little space as possible so there will be room for everyone. Remember to observe YPT policies. Please be courteous to those units camping near you.

PARKING

Parking will be permitted in designated parking lotsONLY. There will be no vehicles, including trailers, parked on the access road or on the field. One vehicle per unit will be allowed on the access road to drop off equipment only. Thatvehicle must then return to the designated parking lot. Special requests must be addressed with the front entrance personnel upon arrival. If your unit is leaving after the Saturday evening program, and you need to pick up your gear, you can get a pass at registration and your vehicle will be escorted by a staff member. There is only one pass within camp so please think ahead and prearrange the use of this pass. All vehicles remaining at the camporee will be issued a parking pass at registration, which must be filled out and displayed in the front windshield of the vehicle. Please remember to back your vehicle in, and carry your keys with you at all times in case an evacuation is necessary.

CHECKOUT PROCEDURES:

REMEMBER TO PACK OUT ALL OF YOUR TRASH!

Saturday Evening Checkout:

Please advise the registration staff at check in if your unit is checking out on Saturday evening. When all of your equipment is packed up and out of the campsite, the SPL will go to the registration area and inform the staff that you are checking out. Your campsite will be inspected by a member of the Camporee staff and a clearance form will be issued to the SPL and Unit Leader. This form must be turned in at the registration area. You may then pick up your Health forms, patches and Participation Ribbon. No check outs will be allowed during the evening program.

Regular Checkout:

Regular Checkout will begin at 7:00 AM on Sunday. When all of your equipment is packed up and out of the campsite, the SPL will go to the registration area and inform the staff that you are checking out. Your campsite will be inspected by a member of the Camporee staff and a clearance form will be issued to the SPL and Unit Leader. This form must be turned in at the registration area. You may then pick up your Health forms, patches and Participation Ribbon.

GENERAL POLICIES

1. Campsite Cleanliness

Units must keep their own areas clean and carry out their own trash.

2. Check Out

Before a unit leaves their designated campsite it will be inspected by the Camporee staff. When your Unit is ready to leave, the Senior Patrol Leader (or equivalent) must request an inspection of their campsite. Upon satisfactory inspection, your unit will receive its patches, Health Forms, and Participation Ribbon.

3. Medical Forms

All Scouts and Scouters are required to bring a valid BSA medical form (Parts A & B) to the Camporee. The medical forms are to be kept by the Medical officer onsite and will be returned at check out. The form may be found at

4. First Aid

Each troop must have its own first aid equipment. Scouts injured should first be attended to by their Unit. If medical attention is needed, notify the Medical staff.

5. Fires

No fires will be allowed at this event.

6. Water

Water will be available. Be aware of dehydration. Each person should carry water to drink, and drink it!

7. Restrooms

Port-a-Potties will be available for youth, and indoor restrooms will be available for adults (18 years and older.). We ask both Scouts and Scouters to be respectful of the restrooms and keep them as neat and clean as possible.

8. Equipment

Each unit will furnish all its own equipment and is responsible for all of its equipment.

Safety – Knives – Hatchets

No sheath knives will be carried or used by any Scout. Hatchets will not be carried on any person. You must have your Totin’ Chip or Whittlin’ Chit present to carry your pocket knife.

9. Pets

NO PETS will be allowed at this Camporee, except for service animals.

10. Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Use

The Boy Scouts of America prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances at encampments or activities on property owned and/or operated by the Boy Scouts of America, or at any activity involving participation of youth members. Anyone found to be violating this provision of the Guide to Safe Scouting will be asked to leave immediately. The use of tobacco products around youth is also prohibited and is not allowed anywhere on the school campus.

10. Flags

Each unit is requested to bring their Unit Flag to the Camporee and display them in their campsites. We ask that you also bring your unit flags and patrol flags to the Flag Ceremony on Saturday Morning.

11. Uniforms

Scouts must arrive and depart in Field (Class A) or Activity (Class B) uniforms. Field uniforms are to be worn to opening ceremony,the Saturday evening program, and Scout’s Own on Sunday morning. In addition, Field uniforms will be required at Pima Air and Space Museum and the Titan Missile Museum.Activity uniforms are to be worn for activities at Lauffer Middle School. OA members are requested to wear their sashes with the Field uniform.

EVENTS (Subject to Change)

Tour of Pima Air and Space Museum:

If your unit has registered for the Pima Air and Space Museum tour, you will receive your assignment (morning or afternoon) at check in and a second wrist band and ticket for each participant. The wrist band must be worn at the Museum, and the ticket surrendered at the entrance to the Museum. All participants are encouraged to walk (all sidewalk) to and from the Museum. Two deep leadership is required at the Museum, and for any youth remaining at Lauffer, so please plan accordingly.

Tour of Titan Missile Museum:

If your unit is interested in this event (all day on Saturday), please contact Jim Nelson at to register.

Aviation Merit Badge Class:

This event is limited to 40 Scouts. Please contact Jim Nelson at to register. Scouts and their units must also be registered for the Camporee.

Model Rocket Launch:

Send you own rocket into the air! Patrols should make their rocket (available for purchase at the Scout Store) before the Camporee. One engine (A size) will be provided per rocket. Additional engines (first come first served) may be purchased at the Snack Bar. No other engines may be used.

Blast Cars:

Ready for Blast off? Patrols should make their car (available for purchase at the Scout Store) before the Camporee. CO2 cartridges will be provided at the event, which will be held starting at 4:30 PM on Saturday.

Climbing Wall:

The Council Climbing Committee will oversee this fun activity. Prepare to climb to new heights!

Paper Airplanes:

How far will your plane go? Design and fly your own airplane. Paper will be provided.

Shooting Sports:

Launch a knife or a tomahawk towards a target. This event is available only to Troops, Crews, Teams, and Posts.

Bicycle Obstacle Course:

Can you navigate the course? Youth should provide their own bicycle and helmet.

Boomerangs:

Make and launch your own boomerang. Will it come back to you?

Remote Controlled Aircraft:

Come watch this demonstration by local expert enthusiasts.

Satellite Radio Communications:

Communicate with amateur radio satellites and eventhe International Space Station as it passes overhead (satellite orbit times will be announced at Cracker Barrel).

National Weather Service:

Learn about weather and space.

Astronomy:

Take a look into outer space. Both daytime and nighttime observation will be available.

Gaga Ball:

Burn off some energy at the Gaga Ball pit!

Adult Training:

Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training will be available. Please register at

Patrol Cook-off:

Your Patrol is encouraged to enter a dish in the Cook-off. The theme is best use of space ingredients, and the mandatory ingredient is Tang™. Dishes must be cooked on site and must be delivered to the Snack Bar by 5:30PM on Saturday.
