Dear Parents!

2016:A YEAR OF CHANGE

Welcome back form a deserved end of year break! The new year has begun and the school is running smoothly!

This year is going to be a year of change for our school! As parents I will rely on your full support to continue to provide a world class education to all our learners. For this to happen we need to change the environment in which our learners are taught and where they practice sport. We are going to make a continuous, concerted effort to upgrade the facilities at school.

I rely on the full support of each and every parent to make the vision that I have for the school a reality and accomplish every goal that I have set to achieve

The following important mattersneed your urgent attention:

  1. STAFF

We had to part greet to the followingeducators at the end of last year: Ms.Chanson (immigrated to the UK), Ms. Meyer (retired) and Ms. Thivhafuni. These educators will be missed at Sandringham, but we wish them all the best in their new endeavours.Congratulations to Ms. Clarence on the arrival of her healthy, bouncy baby girl. Ms. Clarence will return to school at the beginning of Term Two. We would like to welcome the following educators: Mr. CE Murray (English Dept.), Ms.DE Phiri(History/LO Dept.) : IT? : Afrik?

  1. 2015 MATRICK RESULTS

The school had an overall pass rate of 85% and a summary of the results is as follows:

200 learners entered

73 Bachelor passes

60 Diploma passes

35 Higher certificate

4 not resulted

  1. LATE COMING

The following procedure will be followed should a learner arrive late at school

  1. CURRICULUM NEWS
  • The tutorial program for 2016 is attached to this circular.
  • Learners that have been progressed must attend the compulsory tutorials in an effort to improve their results. These learners will receive a notification letter that parents must sign and return to school without delay. We request parents to make the necessary transport arrangements to ensure learner attendance at tutorials.

For all Grade12 learners we have implemented an extension of the school day by one hour. All grade 12 learners will attend classes until 15:30 from Monday to Thursday. This is an addition of 1 hour to the normal school day. A separate timetable will be issued indicating extra lessons on Saturdays. Attendance is compulsory as curriculum coverage will take place.

The final assessment Plan for Term 1 is also attached to this circular. Please ensure that your child is present at school for ALL formal assessments as this contributes towards their term results, year- and promotion mark.

  1. SUBJECT CHANGES

Grade 11 & 12;

All subject changes have been finalized. No further changes will be accepted. The Grade subject changes will be finalized at the beginning of Term 2. There is a policy in place for subject changes. No changes can take place without the necessary documentation completed, signed and submitted. Parents have to provide motivation for the subject change and include their contact number for verification.

  1. FEESFOR PRACTICAL SUBJECTS

Certain subjects offered incur costs that are over and above the school fees. In order to sustain these subjects, additional remuneration is required.

The practical fees applies to the following subjects,for grade 10-12 per annum.

  1. SCHOOL FEES

We encourage all parents to pay fees directly into the school bank acc. Please use your child’s number as reference.

  1. MEETINGS WITH PRINCIPAL

Kindly make an appointment to see the principal. Many parents arrive on an adhoc basis at school and have to waitfor long periods due to scheduled meetings and appointments.

  1. ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

It is that time of the year again where we acknowledge and reward learners for their outstanding achievements inacademics, culture and sport. This event will take place on the 29th of January at 5:30pm in the school hall. All recipients will receive invites to this prestigious event.

  1. SPORT

The following sport activities will be offered at school during Term 1:

Athletics, swimming, basketball and squash. Soccer, rugby and netball will also be introduced at the end of Term 1.

  1. TIME TABLE

The final time table of the school is in operation. There were parents who requested subject changes. These subject changes will only be effective if all the documents have been completed, submitted and signed by parents as well as learners.
