2015 SABER STRENGTH SUMMER PROGRAM

9-12th Grade Program:

The program is open to any athlete going into grades 9-12 that wants to improve their overall athletic strength & fitness and wants to learn safe lifetime fitness activities through supervised strength coaching; plus have an opportunity to earn a Varsity Letter.

Athletes will be required to have minimum strength, endurance, perfect technique, and a full understanding of all safety requirements before being allowed to work independently in small groups.

The program will teach, practice, and develop proper strength training technique in a safe and controlled manner.

It will improve overall individual athleticism, develop team unity & strength, and help teams Win Championships!

Students that learn proper lifting techniques may enjoy the lifetime fitness rewards of strength training.

Session Dates and Times:

June 15th – August 6th (8 Weeks)MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY (4 DAYS/WEEK)

Session # - L1= All 9-12 Athletes(7:30AM-9:00AM)

Session # - LF2= Only 9-12 Female Athletes(8:30AM-10:00AM)

Session # - L3= All 9-12 Athletes(9:30AM-11:00AM)

Session # - L4= All 9-12 Athletes(10:30AM-12:00PM)

Session # - L5= All 9-12 Athletes(11:30AM-1:00PM)

All Sessions are Lettering Sessions (for athletes going into grades 9-12)!

In order to be eligible to earn a Varsity Strength Training Letter, athletes must meet the following expectations:

  1. Attend a minimum of 30of the 36 scheduled summer workouts to the satisfaction of the strength coach!
  2. Demonstrate mastery of the Absolute Six technique and safety standards!
  3. Demonstrate mastery of the technique for the Core Lifts (Back Squat-Power Clean-Snatch-Bench Press)!
  4. Maintain and show mastery of the BFS Individual Set-Rep Record Card!
  5. Successfully participate in a Shakopee HS Athletic Program during the 2015-2016 School Year (finish season in good standing)!

Athletes that struggle with mastery of Absolute Six and Core Lift technique will be kept in smaller groups with additional coaching!

Athletes that have not demonstrated mastery of the Absolute Six and/or the Core Lift technique may continue to practice and demonstrate mastery later in the school year during designated times and become eligible for a Varsity Strength Training Letter.

Athletes will be allowed to make-up two missed days during specific training sessions. Make-ups will not be allowed after August 6th.

Session Cost and Location:

$100 for the entire 8 week session. Cost includes a Saber Strength t-shirt. All sessions will take place at the Shakopee High

School Fitness Center. Athletes should be picked up and dropped off at the West Entrance.

All registration is done online through the Shakopee Activities Office website.

2015 SABER READINESS SUMMER PROGRAM

6-8th Grade Program:

The Saber Strength Readiness Program is for athletes going into grades 6th-8th, both male and female, with a focus on improving overall athleticism and developing perfect technique in all the major weight training exercises. This is a middle year’s strength & agility training program to introduce young athletes to the benefits and lifetime rewards of strength training.

This program will be conducted by a BFS certified strength coach and will have a 12 to 1 ratio of athletes to instructor. All athletes should have this training before being allowed to workout at the high school fitness center in the BFS program.

Athletes that can demonstrate minimum strength endurance, perfect technique, and a full understanding of all safety requirements may be allowed to work more independently in small groups.

The program will teach, practice, and develop proper strength training technique in a safe and controlled manner while improving overall athleticism.

Students will learn the BFS Training System and enjoy the life time fitness rewards of strength training.

Student/athletes should wear proper workout attire (shorts/t-shirt/athletic shoes).
