The MGR Show Rules pertain to ALL shows.

No refunds of any fees. Entries can be sent through paypal at and forms can be emailed to same address as listed.

Pen Fees: $8.00 per pen (one time only fees)

Shavings: Bring your own. There is a store across the road that should be able to supply shavings if you need them.

Market Wether:The Market Wether Show will be run as a 50/50 Jackpot. 50% of the entry fees will go to the show, 30% of the entry fees will be awarded to the Grand Campion Market Wether & 20% of the entry fees will be awarded to the Reserve Grand Champion Market Wether.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Exhibitor Responsibilities (Page 2 section B #3) Complete MGR Show RulesBooklet can be viewed at

  1. It is the ultimate responsibility of the exhibitor that the exhibitor’s goat(s) is/are entered and shown in the correct ageclass and division.
  2. Exhibitor shall not show any goat in a MGR-sanctioned show with the herd name(s) of the judge who is judging thatshow.
  3. All goat must be permanently ID’s and that ID must be documented in the MGR database before that entry can record an official win.
  4. Exhibitor shall provide microchip readers if their goats are identified with microchips.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Regulations for MGR Registered Animals (Page 3 section C #9-17)

  1. An original MGR registration certificate is required for each goat entered, and the document must be presented to theshow secretary before the goat is shown. Only MGR registered goats may be shown in sanctioned shows.
  2. Proof of ownership shall be the name on the registration certificate. Otherwise, the owner is determined by a transferof ownership when it is dated within 45 days of the show and presented with the original registration certificate.
  3. Exhibitors may enter and show goats not registered to them with the registered owner’s written consent and the goat isentered in the owner’s name. If the signature of the owner is required, the exhibitor/handler may sign their ownname, for the owner. The owners name and address will be printed on the Report of Awards form. The win willbe recorded in the name of the owner.
  4. A goat may be judged in only one age class. Proof of date of birth shall be the birth date, recorded by MGR on theregistration certificate.
  5. Goat must have a legible tattoo, USDA scrapie tag, and/or microchip recorded in the MGR database prior to recordingan official win.
  6. The base date for computing the age of the goat shall be the day the goat is to be judged unless otherwise stated bya Fair Board in its rules governing livestock. This date must be stated by the fair on the sanction application.
  7. Health certificates may be required if specified on the entry form. Show officials may deny entry if any goat does notappear in good health.
  8. Any goat that is disqualified in its class must not be counted in the total number of goats shown.
  9. The following goats are ineligible to be shown in sanctioned shows. Doing so is a violation of the MGR Code ofEthics:
  10. If the Junior Champion buck or doe records the win, it cannot be shown again until the goat is eligible to beshown in the senior division. A buck that records a second win prior to its second birthday cannot beshown again until it reaches two years of age.
  11. Any doe having received two wins must give birth to at least one healthy, normal kid in order to be eligibleto be shown again in the senior division. Proof of this shall be the existence of a MGR registered orrecorded offspring.
  12. Any buck having received two wins, must have sired at least one health, normal kid in order to be eligible tobe shown again in the senior division. Proof of this shall be the existence of a MGR registered orrecorded offspring.
  13. Any goat receiving the required number of wins to attain Permanent Grand Champion status or PlatinumWether status will be considered retired and may only be shown in Champion Challenge Classes.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Classes and Awards (Page 4 section D #18-24)

  1. Only MGR registered goats shall be shown in the sanctioned classes. Unregistered goats must not be shown in thesanctioned show.
  2. Junior division classes shall include all buck kids under one year, all wethers under one year, doe kids under one yearwhich have never freshened and yearling does which have never freshened. Any doe delivering after 135 days ofgestation is considered as freshened.
  3. Senior division classes shall include all does that are two years or older, all yearling or younger does which havefreshened one or more times, all bucks that are yearlings or older, and all wethers that are yearlings or older.
  4. Entries may not be added to a class after the judging has started unless the show official have given permission.
  5. The judge shall make awards according to the merit of the goat in any class in which there is no competition.
  6. Local show chairs have the option to split oversized classes any time before the start of the show based on age andnot conflicting with any other show rule.
  7. If the goat is not qualified to record the Champion win because it does not meet requirements set by MGR, it willstill receive the MGR rosettes, but will not record the official win.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Selection of Champions (Page 4 section E #25-31)

  1. Junior Champion shall be selected from the 1st place winners of the classes in the Junior Division.
  2. Reserve Junior champion shall be selected from the goat, which stood 2nd to the Junior Champion in its individualclass and the 1st place winners of the other Junior division classes.
  3. Senior Champion shall be selected from the 1st place winners of the classes in the Senior Division.
  4. Reserve Senior Champion shall be selected from the goat which stood 2nd to the Senior Champion in its individualclass and the 1st place winners of the other Senior division classes.
  5. Grand Champion shall be selected between the Junior and Senior Champions.
  6. Reserve Grand Champion shall be selected between the Junior or Senior Champion that has not been made GrandChampion and the goat that stood Reserve to the Grand Champion (either the Res. Jr. or Res. Sr. Champion).
  7. If a goat is found to be ineligible for line-up in the champion class, before the judging of that class begins, the goatstanding in second place to the ineligible goat will be moved up to the first place position. Likewise, the goatstanding in third place will move up to second.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Requirements for Official Wins for Does/Bucks/Wethers (Page 5 section F #32-37)

  1. If the Senior Champion is named Grand Champion there must be at least 20/10/6 does/bucks/wethers in the show,8/5/0 of these must be in the Senior Division. At least two senior age classes must be judged. The winning goatmust be named Senior and Grand Champion or be recording the win by default as Reserve Grand.
  2. If the Junior Champion is named Grand Champion there must be at least 20/10/6 goats in the Senior Division. Thegoat earning the win must be named Junior and Grand Champion or be recording the win by default as ReserveGrand.
  1. To record a win a goat must be permanently identified by tattoo, USDA scrapie tag, and/or microchip prior to beingshown in its individual class on that date. Tattoo, USDA scrapie tag and/or microchip number must match thenumber on the registration certificate and must be documented in the MGR database. Any tattoo must be legible,allowing for re-tattooing, but no variations other than partial or complete duplications. It shall be the responsibilityof the exhibitor to provide a compatible microchip scammer for the judge’s use if microchips are used for purposeof identification of the animals at the show.
  1. Goats must be entered and placed in the correct age class to record a win.
  2. At least six current active members of the MGR must be represented at any show for a Grand Champion to record awin. For purposes of meeting this requirement, each MGR membership number shall constitute one exhibitor, or inthe case of a non-MGR member, the owners of record on the registration certificate.
  3. The Reserve Grand Champion will record the official win if:
  4. The goat named Grand Champion does not meet all MGR requirements for an official win.
  5. The animals named Reserve Grand Champion meets all MGR requirements for an official win.
  6. Only one win towards a Permanent Grand Champion may be earned as Reserve Grand Champion.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Requirements for Permanent Grand Championship or Platinum Status(Page 6 section G #38-43)

  1. A buck must have 3 champion wins under at least two different judges. One of the required 3 wins may be receivedas a Junior Buck. At least two of the required 3 wins must be received as a Senior buck. At least one of thesewins must be at the age of 24 months or older.
  2. A doe must have 3 champion wins under at least two different judges. at least two of these wins must be received asa Senior doe. One of the required 3 wins may be received as a Junior Doe.
  3. A wether may compete at any age in the wether show. A wether may win a maximum of 12 recorded GrandChampion wether awards. A certificate will be earned each time he records 3 wins until the 12th win. Thecertificates are:
  1. Bronze 3 recorded wins
  2. Silver 6 recorded wins
  3. Gold 9 recorded wins
  4. Platinum 12 recorded wins
  5. After he attains the title “Platinum Wether” he will be considered retired and may only be shown in ChampionChallenge Classes at MGR sanctioned shows.
  1. Before a doe/buck may be recorded as a Permanent Grand Champion, she/he must have produced at least one healthy,normal kid. Proof of this shall be the existence of a MGR registered or recorded offspring.
  2. Any goat receiving the required number of wins to attain Permanent Grand Champion Status will be considered retiredand may only be shown in Champion Challenge classes at MGR sanctioned shows.
  3. Proof that a goat is a Permanent Grand Champion shall be established in either of the following two ways:
  4. Possession of an original Permanent Grand Champion Certificate issued by MGR, or
  5. Possession of original Grand Champion Certificates issued by MGR, evidence of recent wins which togethertotals the required number of wins to attain Permanent Grand Champions status (evidence to be acceptedis a copy of the MGR Report of Awards listing the goat as a Grand Champion) and proof of progeny byRegistration Certification of an offspring.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Champion Challenge Classes in Sanctioned Shows (Page 7 section H #38-43)

  1. Following the selection of the Grand Champion buck/doe/wether a Champion Challenge class may be offered if PermanentGrand Champion animals have entered. The Permanent Grand Champions will compete against the Grand Champion of theshow for the Best Buck in Show/Doe in Show/Wether in Show award. Bucks, Does, and Wethers do not compete againsteach other in MGR sanctioned shows.

MGR Official Sanctioned Show Rules: Penalties and Complaints (Page 8 section K #1-2)

  1. Complaints regarding shows are to be made in writing and submitted to the MGR office.
  2. Complaints meant to affect the outcome of a show or the eligibility of an animals to be shown must be filed within7 (seven) days.

Louisiana Myotonic Madness Show Specific Rules:

  1. The organizers of this show and the facility will not be liable for any loss, damages, or accidents to animals, persons,or property while participating in the show. Youth exhibitors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  2. Substitutions will be allowed at Check-In within the classes listed in the show schedule at no extra charge.
  3. You may bring handlers to help. One MGR Breeder number constitutes one exhibitor.
  4. No exhibitor shall approach the judge until after the conclusion of the show.
  5. Show A will start promptly at 9a.m. and Show B will start no sooner than 2 pm or immediately following theconclusion of Show A or between activities. Show C will start at 9 a.m.
  6. Goats will be released immediately after the show(s) they are competing in or may stay until (9 a.m.) Monday June 15,2014. All goats must be out of the barn no later than 9 a.m. Monday,June 15, 2012.
  7. All goats must be shown with a collar. Bucks must be secure at all times.
  8. Goats may be sold private treaty, however all goats brought to sell at the show must be entered into either Show Aor B or may be entered into both shows. If you are bringing goats to sell, also please observe the following:
  9. These goats must also be listed on the health papers.
  10. All sales are between buyer and seller only and the show personnel or MGR is in no way responsible forany actions or lack thereof from either buyer, seller, or both.
  11. All goats brought to the show must be entered into either Show A or B or may be entered into both shows with theexception of the following only:
  12. Dams with offspring 3 months or younger who are still nursing (these dams may or may not beentered into either Show A or B or C or both)
  13. Offspring 3 months or younger who are still nursing (you may show the dams without showing theoffspring if you wish or you may show them all).
  14. Bottle babies 3 months or younger who are still taking a bottle.
  15. Dairy Does that are in milk that require milking and have no other alternative of leaving them at home. They must be listed on health papers. Please let us know if you are needing to bring this type of doe. We will section off an area away from the other breeders. We do ask that you please pay a pen fee if you are requiring a pen.
  16. Fun Classes are unsanctioned and ineligible for Championship awards. Goats brought in for this class must also beentered into one of the sanction classes. The only exception is as listed above in #9.
  17. This is a ribbon and points show. Any available awards will be noted on class schedule.
  18. All Youth Showmanship Exhibitors must know their breeder number and have the participating goats MGR registrationcertificate with registration number available.
  19. No alcoholic beverages or smoking in the barns or arena allowed.
  20. Health Certificates signed by a licensed veterinarian is required. Individual animal ID such as tattoo, microchip, scrapietag must be listed on the health papers (tattoos must be legible). Also please have a copy of each animalregistration papers with the health papers ready to be reviewed if needed. If you are using microchips asidentification, then you will need to provide your own reader. Show officials may deny entry if any goat does notappear in good health.
  21. Health Certificates must not be dated before May 15, 2014 and the show address must be your destination. Youmust bring an extra copy of your goat’s health certificate that will be retained by the show secretary.
  22. All goats entering Louisiana for exhibition must meet all the requirements for entry into Louisiana. Goats may beexamined on grounds by show personnel. Goats showing evidence of disease, particularly foot rot, sore mouth,abscesses will not be allowed to enter the barn or show and may be released by officials. No animals with anopen wound shall be allowed to be unloaded on the show grounds.
  23. MGR Rules to govern and to take precedence over all others. Any item that comes up that is not specifically coveredby these rules will be decided by the show committee and their decision will be final.

General Health Requirements Governing Admission of Livestock into Louisiana: taken from the following website:

  1. All livestock brought into the State shall be accompanied by an official health certificate stating that the animals arehealth, free from signs of infectious or contagious diseases and signs of internal and/or external parasites, and meet thespecific requirements stated in this regulation. Health certificates are valid for 30 days only. No livestock affected with, orcaring the contagion of screwworms shall be moved into Louisiana for any purpose.
  2. GOATS: All goats imported into the state must meet the general requirements of LAC 7: XXI.11705. In addition, dairygoats must meet the brucellosis and tuberculosis FREE.
  3. Exhibitors must make a copy of each goats registration papers listed on the health certificate and attach them to thecertificate. Some form of individual goat identification must be listed on the health papers for each goat such as tattoos,your state scrapie tag, or microchips. If you are using microchips as your id, you must provide your own chip reader.
  4. ALL GOATS BROUGHT TO THE SHOW MUST BE LISTED ON THE HEALTH PAPERS - This includes all classentries, any goats for sale, dams of nursing offspring 4 months & younger that are not entered in the show, offspring 4months & younger still nursing that are not being shown, & any bottle babies 4 months & younger that are still beingbottle fed.
