Rules and Regulations
Power Wheel Driver Rules
Pee Wee Drivers ages 3-8 years of age may participate. There are two age groups 3-5 and 6-8. There will be a maximum of 25 participants for each age category. Registration will open at 4:00 PM and close at 5:00 PM near the announcer stand at the corner of the track. Registration is first come first serve.
All Pee Wee drivers must be in the company of their Pit Crew Chief or legal parent/guardian and complete registration and waiver at the time of registration. Drivers and Pit Crew Chief will be given matching wrist bands when registered.
Power wheel vehicles must be inspected in the arena after registration.
Pit Crew Chief must be with the drive during time of registration and inspection.
All drivers and their crew members must attend the driver's meeting at 5:00 p.m. the evening of the event.
Only Pee Wee Drivers and Pit Crew Chief will be allowed in the staging area during the event.
Helmets must be worn securely. A bicycle helmet is permitted.
Lap restraints are required.
NO PASSENGERS
No gum or candy is permitted for Pee Wee Drivers during the race to prevent choking hazards.
No Deliberate drivers door hits! There will be balloons on the vehicles to aim for.
Balloons must be popped by the vehicles.
Drivers must keep their hands inside the vehicle.
Drivers must remain in their vehicle. Pee Wee drivers should signal by raising their hands for assistance from Exiting vehicle will result in disqualified from the event.
Power Wheel Vehicle Rules
Any regular electric Power Wheels are permitted.No 4-wheeler, motorcycles, or tractor type vehicle allowed.Child’s legs must be in the compartment. Ride in not ride on!
If vehicle has more than one speed, low speed must be used.
Derby is limited to 6 or 12-volt power wheel only.
Motors must remain stock. *Batteries may be changed out, but NOTHING larger than a 12 volt lawn and garden battery.
All doors and tailgates must be strapped shut. No sharp edges. Use zip ties or duct tape or other flexible product for making them stay shut.
Stock Tires Only. Tires may be covered with duct tape to prevent them from cracking or breaking. No screws in tires, chains, etc.
Decorative changes can be made to the Power Wheel to make it look like a derby car, however; there can benoreinforcement to the power wheel. Changes and additions are only decorative.
All power wheels will be inspected and then will be impounded until time of the event. Please see the event time for details.
Balloons will be attached by Committee members. The object is to pop balloons. The last one left with a balloon is thewinner.
Each heat will be given a time limit. If at the end of theheat, there is more than one contestant with balloons un-popped; heat will be declared a tie.
