A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE SOUTHSIDE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BOYS VARSITY TRACK TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2016 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Southside Christian School track team of Greenville County took top honors at the state competition held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia on May 14, 2016; and

Whereas, to the cheers of their exuberant fans, the Southside Christian Sabres defeated their nearest competitor, Scott’s Branch High School, 84 61, and captured the team’s first state trophy; and

Whereas, two members of the Sabres’ team were state champions in individual events: Clay Anderson in the 110-meter hurdles (15:32 seconds) and Josh Tolbert in the pole vault (13 feet). Both were selected for the All State team, and Josh Tolbert set a school record with his vault; and

Whereas, placing fourth for Southside, teammate Isaiah Kupec set a school record in the discus when he threw one hundred thirty four feet eight inches; and

Whereas, Josh Tolbert has signed to run for The Citadel this fall, and Quintyn Reeder will continue his track career at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands stamina, strength, and versatility, Head Coach Frank Kleckner and his skilled coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to hone a championship caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the track; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that the Southside Christian athletes have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Southside Christian School boys varsity track team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2016 South Carolina Class A State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Don Kaufman, Principal of the upper school, and to Coach Frank Kleckner.
