AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE WANDO HIGH SCHOOL BOYS LACROSSE TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE 2015CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO HONOR THE TEAM’S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, fully ready for the challenge, the Wando High School boys lacrosse team crowned a splendid season by capturing the 2015 Class AAAA State Championship title on Saturday, April 25, 2015; and

Whereas, jubilant Wando High fans cheered their excitement as the Warriorsdefeated Fort Mill, last year’s title holder, to nail their third overall lacrosse state title. In so doing, Wando’s team membersreclaimed the crown they themselves had held only two years ago, when Fort Mill also fell to Wando’s outstanding play; and

Whereas, Wando, the highestscoring team in South Carolina, wasted little time establishing its dominance, scoring twentyeight seconds into the match. The Warriors completed their firstever undefeated season in relatively easy fashion, dispatching Fort Mill 136; and

Whereas, the championship gamedemonstrated the Warriors’ topdrawer strength, agility, and skill, as well as finely honed team effort and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, the team, under the capable leadership of Coach Lance Renes, showed fans and foes alike that Wando’s victory was no accident; and

Whereas, adding further sparkle to an already scintillating season, the team produced the state’s Player of the Year, senior Andrew Phelan; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young men of the Wando High School boys lacrosse team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the field and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution,recognize and commend the Wando High School boys lacrosse team for capturing the 2015Class AAAA State Championship title and honor the team’s exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Lucy Beckham and Coach Lance Renes of WandoHigh School.
