  • Parent meeting Update – around 80 in attendance,
  • Well attended with good questions. Important to maintain,
  • suggestions: schedule earlier, earliest in January as possible, to assist family scheduling; send save the date emails with clinics as soon as scheduled and parent meeting as soon as scheduled in the fall prior.
  • Ordering new State Champs signs like past years signs, signs ordered by Dave Polyak.
  • Vending room – small freezer purchase, logo/name painted on wall, bulletin board purchase, hanging State Championship signs, bulletin/brochure rack. Need point person to own getting this room finished off. Mark Campbell and Deb Anderson will take on this project.

  1. Winter Clinic Update

  • Clinic Attendance strong; 83 first, 67, 68, 58
  • Clinic content / quality discussion: when breaking up the Sunday groups, separate by age with similar skill levels; develop pitching more; catching.
  • Reminder, about patience when coaches, showing with examples.
  • Jerry’s suggestion about April 8thEric Lovedallcoaches clinic focused on pitching. Travel coaches likely skilled; good for the house coaches attend. Player development team developing plan.
  • Internal coaches clinic planned for pitching, catching, managing pitch count to the new 2017 HBA count rules.

  1. Uniforms and HBA Gear

  • Paul exploring proof options for gear, then uniforms. House uniforms similar to last year. Logo and sponsorship on jersey’s this year.
  • Epic sports has $16/dozen for practice balls, on sale.

  1. House Program Update

  • Majors, 4 associations and 16 teams all set, about 4 teams from each program: HBA, Armstrong Cooper ACYA, Plymouth Wayzata, Minnetonka Baseball Association (MBA).
  • 13 Year old Prep: HBA, Armstrong Cooper, 6 teams, about 3 teams from each league.
  • 13 year old end of season tournament, HBA hosting, Paul F. further working with other coaches to secure interest. May need other fields,like St. Loius Park.
  • HBA house league rules updated to include pitch/catch count rules. Will add pitch count table for each team so each coach will be responsible to report score and pitch counts for all games. Greg Geiser will work to make happen, with Dana Johnson assistance as needed.

  • NGIN should be up and live by Friday 2.17.17, about a month behind schedule.
  • 115 of 188 anticpated players have been to clinics so far, good turn out.

  1. Sponsorships/Fundraising

  • Pine Tar Academy, Hig Dawg, and need one more gold level sponsor; $750 contribution, logo applied to travel practice jersey’s.
  • Silver level sponsor for house teams.
  • Deb working to secure other non-baseball sponsors.
  • Mark working on bag tag sponsor / fund raiser.

  1. Scheduling

  • All school district slots are secured.
  • Loosing access to High school (last year 5-6 games).
  • Blake field will be setting prices, may have another program secure it exclusive. Paul working with athletic director at Blake to try, with Chris Johnson’s assistance.
  • April 8th is travel team scheduling meeting at Eastview High School
  • Big Willow
  • Only 17 unused practice slots from all of 2016 went unused, suggesting need more options.

  1. Board Discussion & Vote

  • Discuss request to allow Maddux Mihalakis play for HBA this year. HHS coaches son who will be open enrolling at WJH next year. Discussion will cover if he can play, and which age he will be allowed to try out for.
  • Vote: motion for any player who has played up on the full size field in previous seasons in other 13-15 year old Associations, when transferring into HBA, they would be eligible to tryout and earn a team roster position on the same full size field. For the development of a player, no player should need to play down to a smaller field.
  • Vote: 11 to 0 voted yes, Maddux is eligible to tryout at the 14 or 15 year old level. This will not result in a legacy and eligible player not earning a roster position on the team where Maddux plays in HBA, that team will take 13 players instead of the previously planned 12 roster positions.

  • Registration: 2 weeks of discount timing after registeration starts this Friday. Dana will alert the league mailing lists to alert all of registration discount deadline.
  • Should Travel coaches be assigned to a board position “required”?
  • Diamond Club dinner on 3.12.17, the evening after Travel team tryout call backs.
