Dec 27th/28th - Large Group

Remember & Celebrate

What a year it has been! Today we are going to spend some time remembering all of the things that God has taught us this past year and celebrate the work He has done! You will meet with your small groups for the first 20 minutes, and then move to your Large Group time for the remainder of the service!

Large Group Lesson// 25 min

1. Countdown Video

Show the countdown video as your kids transition from their small group time, set to end when large group begins. Have a leader holding the offering bucket up as kids come in. Remind kids who brought offering to put their money in an offering bucket for our sponsor friend Vivian and Asai!

2. Songs

Leader: Today we are going to do something special - we are going to Celebrate the things that God has done this past year! To kick-off our fun time, lets sing some songs to worship God, for He is worthy of our praise!

Have the kids join in singing some of their favorite songs. Recommended: This Little Light, Me Without You, Our God. These can be found on the thumbdrive, and hand motions are online at loopkids.org on the curriculum page.

2. Intro the Fun Bible Quiz Game

Let’s Play ZONK!

SUPPLIES

• 30 index cards, hat or paper bag, permanent markers, paper, pen

• Cube template on cardstock - cut out and tape together to have a cube for the game.

SET UP

• Write point values (e.g., “1,000” or “200”) on 10 index cards, write “ZONK!” on 10 index cards, and place all the cards in a hat or bag.

• Write 10 “Challenge Cards” with point values. Some examples of challenges: do 20 jumping jacks, sing “I’m a Little Teapot,” or quack like a duck.

• Assign someone to keep score.

ENGAGE

To play, split the kids into two teams (e.g., girls versus boys). Ask one team a question and have kids from that team raise their hands to answer. If a child answers correctly, have him come up and pull a card from the hat or bag. He can grab as many cards as he (and his team) wants. Point values are added together, but if he pulls a ZONK! card, his team loses all of its points. So watch out!

If the child draws a Challenge Card from the hat, the whole team must act out the challenge (e.g., the chicken dance) to get the amount of points written on the card. Everyone on the team must participate in the challenge or the team loses the amount of points written on the card!

Whichever team has the most points after all the questions wins! Note: Kids get loud during this game! One team yells, “Points, points, points!” and the other team yells, “ZONK! ZONK! ZONK!”

Note: Ask questions for the purpose of spiritual formation instead of memorization. Ask questions that remind the kids of the narrative of The Big God Story, what God did in their hearts during the past few weeks, or what they learned about who God is.

OPTIONAL Gospel Share

If you choose to review with boys and girls how to become a Christian, explain that kids are welcome to speak with you or another teacher if they have questions. If a child in your group responds, make sure to pray with them and celebrate with them! Let them know that this is one BIG step in a lifelong journey of learning to follow Jesus. Let their parents and/or your campus coordinator know about this decision, and follow up with this child in weeks and months to come as they begin their journey as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

God rules. God created and is in charge of everything. (Gen. 1:1; Rev. 4:11; Col. 1:16-17)

We sinned. Since Adam and Eve, everyone has chosen to disobey God. (Rom. 3:23; 6:23)

God provided. God sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us from the punishment we deserve.

(John 3:16; Eph. 2:8-9)

Jesus gives. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again so we can be welcomed into God’s family. (Rom. 5:8; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18)

We respond. Believe that Jesus alone saves you. Repent. Tell God that your faith is in Jesus. (Rom. 10:9-10,13)

Close the lesson in prayer.
