RACE 1 – MADONA MISS PACE DIVISION ONE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from LEONIE GRANT.

Acting under the provisions of AR 134(7), Stewards ordered that VINCENT CAN GO, which had been placed out of the draw, was to start from the outside of the front row. Announcements to this effect were made by the course broadcaster and via social media.

TIZYALATOR hung out rounding the first turn. Racing past the 1200 metre mark TIZYALATOR again hung out. At the same time OLIVERS MATE, which was racing three wide hung in and VINCENT CAN GO was momentarily inconvenienced

LEONIE GRANTwhich raced rough passing the 400 metres then tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 56.4 metresunderwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections have been advised that the mare has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

SOUND HILLS which tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 64.2 metres underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

OSCAR BLAKEDON was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into MAILIE ROSA being out of position at the start.

RACE 2 – EMILYS TICKET PACE – 1680 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from BUTTERS and TERRORCAM.

THE FAMILY GUY was out of position at the start. Driver Samantha Freeman was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain position at the start.

PRECIOUS DRAGON pulled hard whilst racing outside the leader.

TERRORCAM was held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.

Post race swab samples were taken from SOMETHING EYRE NZ the winner of the event.

RACE 3 – THE PRIDE STAKES – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from RED BLISTER.

SPRINGFIELD TATTOO was inconvenienced after the start.

BUCKINGHAM BOY galloped out and did not resume its gait until shortly before the winning post on the first occasion. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events.

THE BIG PARADE galloped out. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events.

STAREESHAR pulled hard in the middle stages of the event before tiring from the 300 metres. BRAEVIEW SNIPER was inconvenienced as a result.

BUCKINGHAM BOY which tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 81.6 metres underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards queried driver Scott Kirkwood as to the performance of BUCKINGHAM BOY in tonight’s event. Mr Kirkwood stated that after galloping away from the stand he had then been able to tack onto the field within three quarters of a lap and had elected to pursue a peg line run. The horse then commenced to lose touch with the field from the 800 metres before dropping out from the 400 metres. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Stewards queried driver Shane Boon (STAREESHAR) as to the reasons for the start of this event being delayed. Mr Boon explained the gelding was reluctant to take up its rightful position on the outside of the front line. In deciding not to issue a charge against Mr Boon for delaying the start Stewards took into consideration Mr Boons limited experience in standing start events.

RACE 4 – LAUNCESTON BELMONT – 1680 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from ODINS QUEEN HELA and CUP OF TEA.

LIBERTY NIADH raced rough in the score up before assuming its position prior to the candy pole.

SHADOW ANNE which was out of position at the start will continue to be placed out of the draw for future mobile start events.

LIBERTY NIADH raced ungenerously whilst being restrained after the start.

CUP OF TEA tired from the 300 metres.

FREYDE broke free of interference passing the 300 metres. Connections have been advised that the filly has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

LIBERTY NIADH shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Stewards queried driver Dylan Ford as to the reasons for ODINS QUEEN HELA not being fully in position as the start was effected. Mr Ford explained that the filly, after initially wanting to hang out in the score up was then unable to fully get in to position as a result of LIBERTY NIADH hanging out in the latter stages of the score up. Stewards accepted Mr Ford’s explanation and no action was taken against the filly or Mr Ford.

RACE 5 – CLIFF ROBINS MEMORIAL – 1680 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from FUNDAMENTALIST and BUSTED.

MASTER CHARLIE was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver Brady Woods. Connections were advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future mobile start events.

ISTHATYOUJIMMY raced rough in the latter stage of the score up before being out of position at the start. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future mobile start events.

CEMENTO RAPIDO broke free of interference entering the home straight on the first occasion whilst racing to the outside of ISTHATYOUJIMMY. CEMENTO RAPIDO then raced rough and broke between the 600 metre and 300 metre mark. Connections have been advised that CEMENTO RAPIDO has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

PUNTER KARALTA hung in momentarily passing the 800 metres to the 600 metres.

DAYS LIKE THIS raced rough rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

RACE 6 – TENIRAMA PACE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from CARDINAL SETH.

Stewards queried driver Todd Rattray (RESURGENT SPIRIT) as to the reasons for him not going forward at the start. Mr Rattray explained that the gelding had showed some gate speed in the past however in his view would not be able to get across due to the gate speed drawn to his inside, he then was able to get obtain a trail on the one out, three back position. Mr Rattray was then able to pursue runs between horses racing down the back straight on the final occasion before then pulling wide on the home turn. Mr Rattray stated that the horse had finished off the race well pointing out the fast last half mile of the race. Mr Rattray also pointed out that the three year old was racing out of class. Stewards accepted Mr Rattray’s explanation.

RACE 7 – MODERN TYE PACE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from THESE DAYS and MACH MY DAY.

On arrival at the course trainer Andrew Rawlings advised that the MUSSELROE BAY had pulled a shoe off and then trodden on a nail and was lame, stewards ordered the geldings withdrawal at 5pm. Connections have been advised that MUSSELROE BAY has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days.

THESE DAYS hung out and raced rough in the early stages of the score up.

JUFFS CROSSING was out of position at the start. Connections have been advised that the gelding will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.

Driver Taylor Ford (BETA BOLT) was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground to obtain a position.

Stewards queried trainer/driver Paul Ashwood as the performance of MACH MY DAY which had performed below market expectations. Mr Ashwood explained that the horse was first up since the 29th June 2014 when it had won and that the gelding had not trialled since its last racing engagement and that he was disappointed in the gelding’s inability to finish the race off from the 300 metres. Mr Ashwood has undertaken to advise stewards of any abnormalities he may find.

RACE 8 – WHITE FACE ROBINS STAKES – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from ANOTHERMETRO, NANCES THRILL, MY KODA KASPER, FON ESS KAY and EXOTIC GUY.

A transfer of ownership was lodged on Friday, 8th August 2014 which showed I D Collins, B Collins and P W Jones to be the new owners of ONE MORE LAUGH.

JAZZY JANE was presented to the mounting yard wearing the incorrect saddle cloth. Trainer Kent Rattray was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR 273(6)(a).

EXOTIC GUY broke in the latter stage of the score up and was out of position at the start. Connections were advised that the gelding will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events. EXOTIC GUY then pulled hard in the early stages and was inconvenienced, having to be checked off the back of NANCES THRILL which was being restrained whilst racing three wide into the first turn.

Racing off the back straight on the first occasion the pace of the race eased and FON ESS KAY pulled hard whilst racing on the back of CHIRAC, as a result EXOTIC GUY was momentarily inconvenienced.

GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 67.8 metres. In not taking action against the gelding Stewards took into consideration that the gelding had pulled hard whenracing three wide whilst driver Erin Holloway was attempting to restrain to the rear of the field and that the lead time for this race was the fastest of the night.

RACE 9 – DIEHARD DILLON PACE DIVISION TWO – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from REALLY FIESTY and DO IT FOR DAVE.

TOPNOTCH SAMSON was out of position at the start. Driver John Walters was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain position.

ABOYCALLEDSU was out of position at the start. Driver Ricky Duggan was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain position.

REALLY FIESTY was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn before then obtaining an inside run in the home straight.

TOUCHWOOD AVASTA which tired over the concluding stages underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to be lame. Connections have been advised that the mare has been stood down from racing pending a veterinary certificate of fitness to race.

Driver Taylor Ford (FLYLIKA HAWK) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(3)(b) for her excessive whip action over the concluding stages. Miss Ford was fined the sum of $400.

RAINBOW PHOENIX raced rough around the home turn.

Stewards queried trainer David Mace, who is in charge of RAINBOW PHOENIX in the absence of trainer Keith Toulmin. Mr Mace stated that he believed that the colt had benefited from a reduced workload since last racing. Stewards noted Mr Mace’s explanation.

Post race swab samples were taken from RAINBOW PHOENIX the winner of the event.

RACE 10 – GO DUE CLAIMER – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from BABYITSU, SPOT NINE, TISU TOOTA, FINAL CHAMPION and SHANGHAI KNIGHT NZ.

FINAL CHAMPION was claimed at the Tasmanian Pacing Club meeting on 3th August 2014 and now races in the ownership of S Walters, R Cunningham and R Hodgetts.

FINAL CHAMPION galloped out and will continue to be placed out of the draw for future standing start events.

Driver Todd Rattray (BABYITSU) was fined the sum of $100 under AR 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the minimal sectional time requirements of this event.

CATS AND DOGS was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

TISU TOOTA was claimed by K Hillier.

SHANGHAI KNIGHT NZ was claimed by C and A Schofield.

RACE 11 – NELLIE ROBINS STAKES – 2200 METRES

The start of this event was delayed by two minutes.

SLICK BROMAC NZ galloped out and will continue to be placed out of the draw in future standing start events.
