RACE 1 – HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY BEN YOLE TWO YEAR OLD – 1680 METRES

MASTER CHARLIE was declared a late scratching at 5pm when trainer Scott Woods notified the stewards that there had been a float breakdown. MASTER CHARLIE has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days.

YOUNG BRUISER raced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Connections were advised that this gelding has been placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

AUGURAL (Rohan Hillier) hung in soon after the start despite the efforts of its driver and as a result MOBI DOC (Gareth Rattray) was inconvenienced and CHARLIE JAMES (Ricky Duggan) was inconvenienced and raced roughly.

AUGURAL raced roughly leaving the back straight on the first occasion.

SMILETURNER hung in and contacted several marker pegs on the home turn.

Driver Ricky Duggan was queried in relation to the apparent disappointing performance of CHARLIE JAMES. Mr Duggan stated that he was disappointed in the colt’s performance and felt that the colt failed to run on. Trainer Rodney Ashwood further stated that he believed the sectional times for this event did not suit the colt and that it was his intention to get bloods done during the week and he would inform Stewards of the result. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Duggan and Mr Ashwood.

RACE 2 – BULLOCK CONSULTING BANDBOX PRELUDE – 2200 METRES

MISS GUENEVERE was declared a late scratching at 3.15pm when trainer Barrie Rattray advised that this filly was suffering from an elevated temperature. MISS GUENEVERE has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days.

Pre race swab samples were taken from WEONA MASTERPIECE.

JAZZY JANE raced rough during the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. Connections were advised that this filly has been placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

TANIA MAREE raced roughly during the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. TANIA MAREE then raced roughly soon after the start. Connections have been advised that this filly has been placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

LADY ELAINE pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

MAGGIE ON FIRE pulled hard during the middle stages of the event and commenced to tire from approximately the 400 metres. Connections were advised that this filly has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

WEONA MASTERPIECE tired over the concluding stages. Connections were advised that this filly has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

ITSWHATILIKEABOUTU (Christian Salter) hung in at approximately the 400 metres, as a result JAZZY JANE (John Walters) was inconvenienced and raced roughly for a short distance and WEONA MASTERPIECE (James Johnson) was momentarily inconvenienced.

JANE GRANT was held up for clear racing room from approximately the 400 metres until entering the home straight.

Post race swab samples were taken from FAITHFUL GABBY the winner of the event.

RACE 3 – J BOAG & SON STAKES – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from KINDA CUTE AS and ANIMI SUB IGNIS.

IM SCARLET hung out during the score up.

HEARTHEPENNYDROP galloped free of interference soon after the start and will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

On the home turn GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS (Erin Hollaway)hung in despite the efforts of its driver and as a result INNER CITY (Dylan Ford) was momentarily inconvenienced and raced roughly for a short distance. A warning has been issued on the racing manners of GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS.

IM SCARLET and KINDA CUTE AS hung out throughout the event.

JAYAREKAY tired over the concluding stages. Connections were advised that this gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

IM SCARLET andANIMI SUB IGNIS have been placed back in the mobile barrier draw.

Post race swab samples were taken from ANIMI SUB IGNIS the winner of the event.

RACE 4 – TATTSBET PACE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from ELSUDOKU and ARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZ.

Trainer Kenneth Hall pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 210 in that he failed to nominate a driver on HILDA SU prior to the nominated time.Mr Hall was subsequently fined the sum of $50.

EL JAYS MAGIC hung out during the early stages of the score up.

Driver Ricky Duggan (ARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZ) was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(j) in that he failed to maintain his barrier position.

MACH MY DAY pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

WESTERN KARAMEA NZ (Tim Yole) sustained a flat tyre at the winning post to receive the bell when driver Rohan Hillier (MACH MY DAY) shifted wider on the track to obtain a position in the three wide line. In not taking any action, Stewards took into consideration the racing manners of MACH MY DAY.

ARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZ tired over the concluding stages. ARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZ underwent a post race veterinary examination and it was reported that no obvious abnormalities could be detected.

RACE 5 – ROBERTS EQUINE SUPPLIES GLOBE DERBY HEAT ONE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from ESTEVAO.

Driver Ricky Duggan (FLETCHERS KNIGHT) was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(j) in that he failed to maintain his barrier position. In not imposing a more severe penalty stewards took into consideration that Mr Duggan had not been reprimanded for the same offence in race 4 prior to the running of race 5.

RUSTY RED COMET and ESTEVAO pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

RACE 6 – ROBERTS EQUINE SUPPLIES GLOBE DERBY HEAT TWO – 2200 METRES

SABOTAGED was declared a late scratching at 10.45am when trainer Keith Toulmin advised that this colt was lame in its off fore leg. SABOTAGED has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days.

Pre race swab samples were taken from HUSTLER HALO.

The all clear to this event was delayed when driver Rohan Hillier (CHOPSTIX BORIS) placed third by the judge lodged a protest against KARALTA DAZZLER (John Walters) placed second by the judge, alleging interference at the 1800 metres. After viewing the official replays, taking evidence from both drivers and acting on their own observations, stewards dismissed the protest as they could not be satisfied that the extent of the interference sustained to CHOPSTIX BORIS by the outward movement of KARALTA DAZZLER outweighed the margin given by the judge and the all clear was then given on the judge’s numbers.

At a subsequent inquiry driver John Walters (KARALTA DAZZLER) was found guilty of a charge under AR 163(1)(b) in that at approximately the 1800 metres he obliged CHOPSTIX BORIS (Rohan Hillier) to race in a three wide position and as a result CHOPSTIX BORIS raced roughly when being restrained to take up a position behind KARALTA DAZZLER in the one out line. Mr Walters’ licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 2 race dates commencing midnight 13 June 2014 and expiring midnight 22 June 2014.

VANDE VELDE hung out approaching the winning post to receive the bell.

CHIRAC was held up for clear racing room during the early stages of the home straight.

CHOPSTIX BORIS raced roughly under pressure approaching the winning post.

HUSTLER HALO tired over the concluding stages. HUSTLER HALO underwent a post race veterinary examination and it was reported that no obvious abnormalities could be detected. Trainer’s representative Kristy Grant advised that it is the trainer’s intention to spell the gelding.

RACE 7 – CHARTLEY ESTATE PACE – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from PRECIOUS DRAGON and TERRORCAM.

BOUTIQUE ART and PEACE CORPS NZ pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

BUMBLE DON was held up for clear racing room during the early stages of the home straight.

Driver Grant Hodges (PRECIOUS DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 162(1)(y) in that he failed to adhere to the sectional time requirements for this event. Mr Hodges was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

TERRORCAM has been placed back in the mobile barrier draw.

Stewards intend to inquire into the reasons for driver Grant Hodges (PRECIOUS DRAGON) looking around on numerous occasion in the home straight.

Post race swab samples were taken from PEACE CORPS NZ the winner of the event.

RACE 8 – NICHOLS SOUND & COMMUNICATION STAKES – 2200 METRES

Pre race swab samples were taken from GOTHIC RAGE.

The all clear to this event was delayed when driver Ricky Duggan (GOTHIC RAGE) wish to view the official patrol films with a view of lodging a protest against BOOZY ROUGE, placed first by the judge regarding an incident that took place approaching the winning post. After viewing the films Mr Duggan was satisfied and the all clear was given on the judge’s numbers.

Driver Taylor Ford (BOOZY ROUGE) was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain her barrier position.

I AM MISTER RED commenced to tire from the 600 metres. Connections were advised that this gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

Driver Scott Kirkwood (FILL YOUR POCKETS) was found guilty of a charge under AR 168(1), careless driving, in that racing down the back straight on the final occasion he allowed FILL YOUR POCKETS to shift ground outwards abruptly when he pulled the plugs, as a result BUTTERS (Andrew Thornton) obtained an inside run. Mr Kirkwood was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

BOOZY ROUGE was held up for clear racing room from approximately the 400 metres until obtaining a clear run on the home turn.

Driver Taylor Ford (BOOZY ROUGE) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(3)(b) in that she used her whip with an excessive action in the home straight. Miss Ford was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

Driver Taylor Ford (BOOZY ROUGE) was reprimanded under AR 168(1), careless driving, in that approaching the winning post she allowed her horse to shift ground inwards abruptly and as a result GOTHIC RAGE (Ricky Duggan) was momentarily inconvenienced. In not taking more severe action, Stewards took into consideration that Miss Ford had accidently dropped her rein and is a relatively inexperienced driver.

GENERAL:

James Austin was found guilty of a charge under AR 159A(7) for failing to wear a body protector whilst performing track work on the 6thJune 2014. Mr Austin was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

Melissa Maine was found guilty of a charge under AR 159A(7) for failing to wear a body protector whilst performing track work on the 11thJune 2014. Miss Maine was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

Devonport Harness Racing Club – 2June 2014 – Race 4

Driver Geoff Madden (ELSUDOKU) was found guilty of a charge under AR 163(1)(b) in that racing in the front straight to receive the bell he obliged GAVRAIL (Kristy Grant) to race in a three wide position. Mr Madden’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 2 race dates commencing midnight 13 June 2014 and expiring midnight 22 June 2014.
