Comments / Explanations:

Adam Trinder, master of Millie Whitehouse-Summers was advised that she would be required to furnish a medical certificate of fitness before riding again.

RACE 1 – SIMONS DESIGN CENTRE 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1150 METRES

Getaway Gold was slightly slow to begin.

Near the 1000 metres Fair Player made contact with Sapphire Storm resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced.

Between the 600 and 400 metres Chips was unable to obtain a clear run.

In the early part of the home straight Chips displayed a tendency to lay in when under pressure.

In the home straight Burma hung in resulting in Ismail Toker, rider of the gelding, not being able to ride it out in his normal manner.

Georgie Catania, rider of Sapphire Storm, was reminded of her obligation not to use the whip in a forehand manner in consecutive strides. When assessing whether to take more severe action, stewards took into account that this occurred close to the 100 metres.

RACE 2 – TAPETA FOOTINGS 2YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 METRES

Whilst the runners were being loaded into the barriers the stewards were notified that there was a wallaby on course, as a result the loading process was delayed to enable the track to be cleared.

A Little Bit Dutch jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after this A Little Bit Dutch became unbalanced when bumped by Incumsdacash, which shifted out slightly.

Shane Arnold, rider of Novaell, which was reluctant to race and tailed the field throughout, explained in his view it failed to handle the track surface.

Near the 600 metres Little May (NZ) shifted out slightly and made contact with Ourmatealvin.

Bulent Muhcu, rider of A Little Bit Dutch, was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding for permitting his mount to shift out near the 400 metres and make contact with Queen’s Guide, which was then taken out, resulting in Little May (NZ) shifting out to avoid that filly’s heels and Ourmatealvin being inconvenienced. Bulent Muhcu was further notified that he would be expected to ensure that he is clear when attempting to shift ground in similar circumstances.

In the home straight Fiore hung in when under pressure.

Passing the 100 metres Lost My Patience laid in when under pressure resulting in Princess Bombora being inconvenienced.

Over the concluding stages Koutoufides laid in when under pressure.

Brendon McCoull, rider of Moneypenny was harmlessly dislodge when attempting ot pull up the filly. .

RACE 3 – VEOLIA ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1150 METRES

On arrival at the course Persian Jewels was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that it was lame in the off fore. Acting on this advice the gelding was scratched at 12:22pm. Vern Poke, trainer of Persian Jewels, was notified that he must submit a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the gelding starting again.

Windedo jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 600 metres Churinga shifted out and made contact with Sister Quest.

Rollinginthedeep raced wide throughout.

Over the last 100 metres Must Be Love hung out when under pressure.

RACE 4 – JAMES BOAGS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP DIV 1 – 1350 METRES

Apace Son and Blacko were both slow to begin (1L).

Rhonda Mangan, rider of Cougat King, pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 118A, the particulars being that she changed her riding vest after weighing out. After taking into account the circumstances relating to this incident and Miss Mangan’s guilty plea she was fined the sum of $100.

After taking initial evidence from Vern Poke, trainer of Cougat King and Rhonda Manga, rider of the gelding, and also receiving a report from Dr John McKenna, stewards adjourned an inquiry into the riding tactics adopted on Cougat King in this race to allow them to review further data relating to this race and the previous runs of Cougat King. Cougat King underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Approaching the 600 metres Blacko shifted out to improve to the outside of Royal Beluga and brushed Apache Son which became unbalanced.

Near the 300 metres Blacko, when improving, had to be checked to avoid the heels of Cougat King, which was weakening.

Brendon McCoull, rider of My Angels which performed below expectations, explained in his view the mare failed to handle the track surface.

Tyson Buck, rider of Blacko which performed below expectations, explained it was his intention to ride the gelding back in the field and in his view it travelled well until the 400 metres. Mr Buck explained that when he had to check near the 300 metres the gelding failed to respond to his riding. Mr Buck further added that despite the gelding receiving interference he was disappointed with the run.

RACE 5 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU TOP TOTE PLUS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP DIV 2 – 1350 METRES

Near the 600 metres Revenging had to be checked when racing tightly to the inside of Fuming, which shifted in slightly shortly after this. Revenging was again restrained when Fuming again shifted slightly.

In the home straight Willow The Wisp laid in when under pressure.

Subsequent to the race Gareth Horner, trainer of Christies (NZ), reported that the gelding had lost both front shoes.

RACE 6 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU NEW IPAD APP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1880 METRES

During the early stages of the race Another Lad Al raced wide before being allowed to stride forward by its rider.

Near the 400 metres Musique Player was inconvenienced when tightened for room by Gee Gees Opera (Chantal Willis) which shifted out when improving to the outside of Cia Marco, which commenced to weaken. Chantal Willis was issued with a severe reprimand under the provisions of AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that she would be expected to ensure she is sufficiently clear of other runners when in similar circumstances. Shortly after this Danestone became unbalanced and was checked when tightened for room between Gee Gee Miss Bee, which shifted in slightly, and Musique Player, which was taken out slightly, by Gee Gees Opera which shifted ground. As the stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any one rider was solely responsible for this incident they took no action other than to notify Miss Willis to ensure she keeps her mount straight when in similar circumstances.

RACE 7 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU LIVE BETTING CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1350 METRES

After leaving the mounting yard Geegees Firstword struck the running rail. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination at the barrier and was passed fit to take its place in the field.

RACE 8 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU FIXED ODDS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

On arrival at the course Craig Conron, trainer of Song Of Joy, notified stewards that due to the perceived pace in this race the mare would be restrained and ridden back. This information was forwarded to the course broadcaster for public dissemination.

On jumping away Difrent shifted in and contacted Stormbay Bomber.

Shortly after the start Crystal Reef and Espry were tightened for room between Good Boy Robert, which jumped outward and Bundaleda.

Near the 900 metres Bring Me Sunshine shifted out taking Stormbay Bomber out on to Difrent, resulting in both those geldings being inconvenienced.

From the 800 metres Good Boy Robert hung out and near the 600 metres when hanging had to be checked to avoid the heels of Espry.

Passing the 700 metres Crystal Reef was tightened for room between Espry and Bundalena.

Approaching the 600 metres Stormbay Bomber shifted out slightly and inconvenienced Difrent.

Good Boy Robert hung out on the home turn. Connections were advised that a warning would be issued against the racing manners of the gelding.

Rounding the home turn Song Of Joy was held up for a short distance.

Brendon McCoull, rider of Difrent, which raced wide for the majority of the race explained that he eased the gelding down from the 200 metres as in his view it felt amiss in its action. A veterinary examination subsequent to the race revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Over the last 100 metres Bundaleda hung in when under pressure.

Passing the winning post Espry had to be checked when tightened for room by Jypsiere which was taken in by Bundaleda (Ismail Toker). Ismail Toker was reminded of his obligations to ensure that he keeps his mounts straight during and after a race.
