Entomology Club Meeting

  • Club meetings will now be held every OTHER week of the month, starting 9/24/14, alternating from Wednesdays @ 7pm to Thursdays @6:15pm. This will help to accommodate everyone’s conflicting schedules.

  • Updating the club constitution: Due to recent discrepancies, revisions have been made to the bylaws and will be posted to FaceBookand sent out via listserv for member review and approval.

Changes have been made to the secretary and events coordinator position responsibilities. Teddy sent the original and revised versions for your convenience. Please look over them so we can vote next meeting in regards to these changes. If you cannot attend in two weeks on 10/9 to express your vote, let us know.

  • Remember: to be considered an approved ACTIVE member, you must participate in TWO outreach events and attend at least THREE member meetings. Records are kept. We do this to keep track of students who actively participate to enhance their scholarship opportunities – so GET INVOLVED!  We want everyone to be eligible.
  • Halloween Social with ENSO: either October 30th or 31st, B.Y.O.P. (bring your own pumpkin)Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Carve-Off! Let’s show the grad students who really has more skill ;) andadvising
  • Arthropod Training Day: October 9th (1:30-3:30pm in Room 2218) A list of participants will be made denoting students who will have passed the training course and approved for arthropod handling at outreach events – an impressive skill to add to any repertoire!
  • TailGator: October 11th (three hours prior to kickoff at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center) You must sign up individually in order to actually get food at the event. Tickets are free for CALS students and $12.50 for anyone else.
  • Millhopper Library Outreach Event: October 2nd (3:30-5:50pm) Arthropod petting zoo/ Entomology Club outreach event for Elementary school kids. (3-5 volunteers, please!)
  • Conepark Library Outreach Event: October 16th (3:30-5:30pm) Arthropod petting zoo/ Entomology Club outreach event for Elementary school kids. (3-5 volunteers, please!)
  • Butterfly Fest: October 4th (8am-5pm) All day event at the museum tabling and representing the Entomology club and department.
  • Ocali Country Days: November 5-9, 19th century olden day themed festival. Thousands of people. Great food and sights. All day event. Appx. 45min away. BIG EVENT OF THE SEMESTER!
