Jeff -Good morning! Distinguished guests, Ladies and gentlemen,

Bonjour! Distingués invités, Mesdames et Messieurs, my name is Jeff LeBlanc and I will be your Emcee for this morning. We are delighted that our Rally events have taken place here at UNB-Fredericton. Thank you sincerely to the University and the Richard J Currie Centre for warmly welcoming Team New Brunswick.

Today, we are greeting the members of the New Brunswick team - dedicated individuals who come from all parts of the Province and who represent the best of sport, leadership and excellence.

Before we get on with show I would like to introduce you to my co-emcee – I could read a page of accolades about her – but instead just after the parade of athletes we will allow this fantastictechnology to do it for us. I will tell you she is a Team NB Canada Games alumni from the 2011 Winter Games in Halifax where she was lead for the Women’s Curling Team. She has gone on to have awhirlwind 2 years since then – but you’ll just have to wait until the athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff arrive to hear more about her.

Cathlia: Hi Everyone! Thank you Jeff! It’s hard to believe 2011 was only a little over 2 years ago and that I’m now considered Team NB ALUMNI!!

I know what it’s like as an athlete to be in the holding area for an Opening Ceremonies and since this weekend is all about simulating the Games environment so athletes are as prepared as can be for Sherbrooke 2013 - Let’s get things started right now.

Please join us in welcomingsport by sport the very proud and accomplished young men and women and their coaches and managers who have been working and training diligently to represent the Province of New Brunswick at the 2013 Canada SummerGameswhich take place August 2 – 17th in our neighbor province of Quebec.

Jeff A number of sports are training or competing out of Town today and will not be parading in – we want to mention them though as important members of this Team. Athletics, Softball, Women’s Beach Volleyball, Road Cycling and Mountain Bike, and Tennis

Women’s Wrestling may only send a few athlete’s or none at all but we are waiting for confirmation.

Cathlia: Some of the team members are showcasing their sport specific competitive uniforms so keep your eyes peeled for those! Members of Team NB who will be participating in Week One at the Canada Games / Les athlètes d’Équipe NB qui participeront pendant la premièresemaine des Jeux:

Cathlia Baseball –

Team NB Men's baseball team finished 6th at the 2009 Canada Games in PEI. The team has been training all winterand theroster is comprised of players that have attended National Championships. The team will be competing in the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League this summer as well as attending tournaments in Prince Edward Island, Montreal andin the Miramichi prior to leaving for the Games.Insert French.

The Sailing Team is training hard, going to international regattas in Hungary and New Jersey as well as regattas in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario. They are gearing up for gold!Insert French.

Cathlia Soccer - Female –

Insert French.This years team is young but technically sound. In preparation the team will be competing in the United Soccer League U20. Playing in this league against older girls and teams from Ottawa, Massachusetts and New York. They are hosting a Pre-Competition camp from July 21st – 26th in the province of Quebec and will be hosting a small mini-camp just before departing for Sherbrooke.

Jeff Swimming - Natation –

The Men's Volleyball Team, comes into these games after finishing 9th in PEI. The 2013 team looks to improve on that performance in a significant way. This will be an exciting team to watch, and will be bringing a high level of talent and passion to the Men's Volleyball portion of the Canada Games – This sport will practice and compete out of the Universite de Sherbrooke while at the Games.Insert French

These young ladies bring much skill, dedication, and enthusiasm each time they enter the gym. The team will be competing against NS & PEI in preparation for the games as well as taking a training trip to Cuba in July where they will compete against Cuban athletes over the 5 days at the training center.

Men’s Wrestling

The Team NB Men's Wrestling Team is made up veterans and rookie wrestlers. Most athletes have traveled extensively this year with their individual clubs to high profile meets in Canada. The men's team finished fourth at the last games and hope to break the top five in placing’s again in 2013Insert French

Women’s Wrestling - TBD

Team NB Women's Wrestling team has a solid mix of experienced and rookie wrestlers who have also attended several high profile meets this year in preparation for the games. They hope to equal or better their fifth place team finish of the last games in PEI. The summer training schedule has already begun and athletes are extremely focused in their preparation for Sherbrooke.

The NB women's basketball team will enter the Canada Games tournament ranked 6 after last years team improved New Brunswicks rankings from 9th to 6th place. This years team will compete in a number of competitions to prepare themselves for the 2013 Summer Games, including tournaments in the United States, Montreal, Halifax, and New Brunswick."

In 2009 the NB Girls Golf Team met their goal of finishing 6th in the Team competition. Individually their goal is for one of the girls to crack the top 10.The NB Boys golf Team finished in 8th spot and are aiming for top 5 this year and are also aiming for top 10 finishes.

Sherbrooke marks only the 2nd time Golf appears on the Games schedule

The New Brunswick Canoe-Kayak team is a young group of ambitious athletes with a lot of spirit. In preparation for the 2013 Summer Canada Games theywill be competing in a number of competitions including regattas in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Team NB is represented in the Kayak disciplines in the ______events.

JeffAviron – Rowing

The rowers look to achieve solid results as in past Canada Games and will be preparing for Sherbrooke by racing prep regattas in July at the Eastern Rowing Championships in Montreal and US Nationals in New Jersey. The team is made up of #______

Jeff Triathlon

2013 will be triathlon’s second time on the sport calendar at Canada Games. The event consists of a 750 meter swim, 20km bike and 5km run and athletes will race in 3 competitions within 5 days, the individual sprint, the team and the mixed team relay. Triathlon became a recognized Olympic sport in 2000 and it is growing steadily in NB.

CathliaAnd Finally the Team NB Mission Staff – A group of __ behind the scenes experts in sport administration, communications, health and safety, sports psychology, and special events dedicated to providing an athlete centered environment for all Team NB members. Not all are marching but you will see them throughout the building –including Jeff our Emcee - they play a key role in pulling off events such as the Salute this morning.

10:15 OFFICIAL TEAM UNIFORM UNVEILING – needs details

Each Canada Games presents an opportunity for athletes to show off the Team New Brunswick colors of burgundy and green that are part of the New Brunswick Canada Games uniforms. The 2013 Team NB uniform incorporates the Team NB logo’s – a logo specific to and reserved for those who earn the right to represent NB at the Canada Games. Variations of these uniforms will be worn during the opening and closing ceremonies, for team travel and medal presentations as well as throughout the Games.

Cathlia - The Chef de Mission works with numerous dedicated volunteers and staff to oversee Team New Brunswick’s preparations at the Games. The 2013VolunteerTeam NB Chef de Mission, is Mr. Stephane Hachey. Stephane brings a wealth of knowledge to Team NB and his multi-sport Games experience is extensive to say the least.

This will be his 7th Canada Games: He is returning for his second stint as Chef de Mission, is a 5 time mission staff member of Team NB and served as Director of Sport and Operations for the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Bathurst-Campbellton. He has servedon 4 Olympic Mission Staff’s for Team Canada and2 Pan-American Games. He has participated in both the National and International Olympic Academies. In addition he is a Vice-principal at Ecole Secondaire Nepisiquit, has extensively volunteered with les Jeux de L’Acadie. Please join me in welcoming your Chef de Mission Stephane Hachey!
