A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SALUTE THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER TEAM, COACH, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2014 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, fully focused and prepared for the fray, the Pinewood Preparatory School girls soccer team took top honors at the state competition, held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Heathwood Hall; and

Whereas, after splitting two regularseason matchups with Hilton Head Christian Academy, Pinewood Prep won the season series against this league rival and took home the trophy, defeating Hilton Head 50 and nailing the 2014 South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class AAA State Championship title; and

Whereas, the championship was Pinewood Prep’s third overall, the first since 2010, and earned the team an 1831 finish to a fine season; and

Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and team work, qualities that will serve these young women well off the soccer field and provide a foundation for success in all of life’s challenges. Led by Coach Gail Osborne, herself an athlete of great skill, the members of the Pinewood Prep girls soccer team have learned well the lessons of their outstanding mentor; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition the Pinewood Prep girls soccer players have brought to their school and community and look to hear of their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute the Pinewood Preparatory School girls soccer team, coach, and school officials on their outstanding season and congratulate them on winning the 2014 South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class AAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Steve Mandell and Coach Gail Osborne.
