AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND COMMEND THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOLVARSITY CHEERLEADING SQUAD, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR ANEXCEPTIONAL SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR GARNERING THE 2012 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, it is only fitting that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives pause in their deliberations to honor the Chapin High School varsity cheerleading squad of Lexington County for placing first in the state competition for the fifth consecutive year on November 17, 2012; and

Whereas, the Chapin Lady Eagles returned to the BiLo Center in Greenville to renew their state honors for another year, the ninth time the school’s cheerleaders have taken the top honors in the State; and

Whereas, far from being an easy victory, the road to this year’s tournament was paved with adversity. At the Upper State Qualifiers, a severe injury during warm ups ended the season for a vital member of the team, necessitatingmajor changes to the routine; and

Whereas, after eight days of threehour practices, the team met the challenge not only with a winning performance, but also with the highest score, in any class at the competition; and

Whereas, with flawless synchronization of tumbling and stunts and an impeccable choreography, the Lady Eagles left the floor only to fly above all their competitors; and

Whereas, this year’s victory makes the Lady Eagles by far the winningest cheer squad in state history, with more consecutive wins than any other school to date; and

Whereas, in a field requiringprecise execution and mental enthusiasm, Head Coach Vicki Wilson and her accomplished coaching staff capitalized on their skill and training to mold a competitive team and to teach these athletes lessons that will last a lifetime; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the respect and credit that the Lady Eagle cheerleaders have brought to their school and their community and expect to hear of many more successes in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, acknowledge and commend the Chapin High Schoolvarsity cheerleading squad, coaches, and school officials for anexceptional season, and congratulate them for garnering the 2012 Class AAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Akil Ross and Coach Vicki Wilson.
