The McEachern Fast Pitch Indians completed the fall 2011 season doubling our win total from 2010!We relied heavily onthe leadership ofsix seniors as we welcomed seven new players into the Fast Pitch program.
The 2011 Lady Indians enjoyed a successful campaign reaching the quarterfinals of the region tournament.Four Lady Indians received post-season honors as Khayla Green, Kaitlin Leng, Heather Peters, and Kimberly Taylor werenamed Honorable Mention on both the All-Region andAll County Teams, respectively.As of January our seniors had yet to make finaldecisions on where they will attend college with two of them exploring options of playing at the college level. The Class of 2011 placed two Indians into the college softball ranks with Lauren Coleman (Georgia State) and Emily Benton (Bryan College) advancing to continue their careers. RecentLady Indians alumni who have also played at the collegiate level include Laura Voyles ’07 (North Georgia College), Branigan Wix ‘08 (Columbus State), Kelci Leng ’08 (Brewton Parker), and Chelsea Huffman ’10 (Georgia College & State Univ.).
Coach Russ Russell completedhis third year coaching in McEachern Softball and his first year as Head Coach.Heis entering his fourth year in McEachern Baseball and will spend the 2012 season as the Varsity Pitching Coach.Coach Russell is a member of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association, the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the Georgia Dugout Club. He is assisted in the Fast Pitch program by Coach Bret Hash.
