Expectations of Members:

All Student Council members are encouraged to attend all monthly meetings, pay annual membership dues, and participate in committees and required activities. Outside of Student Council, all members must maintain proper grades and conduct- failure to do so may result in dismissal from Student Council. Being a Student Council member is an honor. People look up to you, so it is important to be on your very best behavior at all times!

How to Join Student Council:

1. Sign up with a current STUCO officer

2. Pay the required dues

3. Attend the first general meeting during the first week of school. Date and time TBA.

1. Dues:

  • Every member must pay dues. Dues this year will be $30

-Dues must be paid via cash or check

-ALL DUES ARE by check, make it out to HHS STUCO and include the student name in the MEMO LINE

  • Dues go toward the operating fund which pays for Homecoming, our State and National dues, and many other events held throughout the year! This year, a STUCO t-shirt will also be included when you pay your dues.
  • Dues need to be turned in by Friday, September 6th by 3:00 pmto an OFFICER or SPONSOR.

STUCO members will be expected to participate in at least one committee. Below is a list of current STUCO committees. You will sign up with a STUCO officer at the first meeting. Each Committee will be led by a STUCO officer who will organize specific projects within that committee throughout the year. 3. Other Things to Know

Organization of Members:

  • Student Council consists of the Executive Council Officers (who were elected at the end of the 2012-2013 school years), delegates, and representatives.

The Student Council Officers for the 2013-2014 school year are:

President- Thayricela Rochez

President – Karen Rodriguez

Vice President- Dean Williams

Secretary- Fabiola Robles

Treasurer-Kiara Johnson

Historian –Rakkia Curtis

  • The next level of leadership is the delegate position- the delegates work side by side with the Officers to complete the Executive Council. Delegates will be chosen toward the end of the fall semesters. Delegates are selected based on participation within Student Council.
  • All other members of Student Council are Representatives.

Meeting Requirements:

There will be approximately two meetings per month. STUCO meetings are MANDATORY for all members. It is very difficult to plan and execute events when members are not present! If you miss more than3 meetings per semester, you will be placed on probation and have to earn extra points in order to maintain your membership in Student Council.

Point Requirements:

  • All STUCO members are expected to participate in meetings and events. Each activity has a point value associated with it. By the end of the fall semester, members will be expected to accrue at least 350 of the 500+ possible activity points. See attached sheet for specific point values.
  • If you volunteer for an activity/event, you are expected to stay a majority of the time necessary to complete the project. (i.e. you will not receive full points for an activity if you only stay 30 minutes.)Partial point valuesare subject to officer discretion.
  • Members will be expected to keep up with their point sheets and bring them to events. You will only receive one per semester, so DO NOT LOSE IT!
  • If a member attends all events and receives the maximum number of points possible, he or she will have the potential to attend the state TASC convention in the spring semester!

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact an officer or speak with a sponsor! We look forward to having an awesome year.
