AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. MAMIE CALDONIA DYSON DAVIS ON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETYFIFTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mrs. Mamie Caldonia Dyson Davis celebrated her ninetyfifth birthday onJune 22, 2011; and

Whereas, born on June 22, 1916, Mamie Caldonia Dyson Davis came into this world when the twentieth century was still in its youth, and she has been witness to nearly all the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twentyfirst century; and

Whereas, in preparation for her life’s work as an educator, Mrs. Davis graduated from the public schools of Madison, North Carolina, and later obtained degrees from WinstonSalem Teachers College and New York University. For more than fiftynine years, she taught in the public schools and colleges of North Carolina and Virginia; and

Whereas, married to the late Heyward H. Davis for thirtyeight years, Mrs. Davis and her husband lovingly parented two children, Susan Boyd of Columbia and Dr. Heyward H. Davis, Jr. of Suffolk, Virginia; and

Whereas, a current resident of Columbia, Mrs. Davis enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor this truly lovely lady at the celebration of her ninetyfifth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Mamie Caldonia Dyson Davis on the occasion of her ninetyfifth birthday and wish her continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mamie Caldonia Dyson Davis.
