Frost Sullivan Honours CompAir for its Advanced D-Series 2-Stage Oil-Free Screw Compressor

The product stands out for providing high quality compressed air with reduced risk of contamination, and its smaller carbon footprint

LONDON – 20.11.2013 – Based on its recent research on the oil-free screw compressorsmarket, Frost & Sullivan presents CompAirwith the2013 European Frost & Sullivan Award forProduct Leadership for its D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor. This product, with itsadvanced packaging design, is ideal for use in applications within industries such as food and beverage and pharmaceuticals and electronics, where air purity is critical. The product’s design allows the same package to be used for every variant of the compressor - fixed speed, regulated speed, air or water-cooled.

The D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor is available in ranges between 75 kW and 160 kW, butirrespective of the range, the size of the package remains the same.Apart from small footprints, CompAir also offers energy efficiency and optimal energy consumption with its regulated speed models. These models provide energy savings of around 25 percent over the fixed speed unit by operating the compressor at optimal power, depending upon the requirements of the customer.

The product employs a WEG IE3 motor to ensure greater reliability and safety, and features an innovative Delcos XL touch screen controller for the continuous and simultaneous monitoring of the operations. It features a trend screen that captures informationsuch as weekly average volume flow, network pressure in the factory, and weekly profiles where energy consumption can be calculated.

“The D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor is equipped with a system that controls the oil dust by generating a vacuum, thereby separating the oil dust from the air and sending the oil back into the oil system,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Niranjan Paul. “This system ensures that there is no oil wastage or oil emission into the atmosphere.”

The sophisticated closed cooling water circuit for the airend cooling ensures constant low temperature levels and thereby significantly extends the airend lifetime. This efficient cooling system also achieves constant low discharge temperature.

CompAirhas a large customer base spanning various industries. In the food and beverage industry, its compressor is used in food filling machines where compressed air is required for packaging purposes. In the automotive industry, the key applications include air tools and paint guns. The compressor can also be used for breathing purposes within paint shops. In the textile industry, it is used in weaving machines for denim trousers.

“Frost & Sullivan research reveals that the demand for its oil-free compressor range has increased by around 40 percent in 2013, primarily due to the introduction of the D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor,” noted Paul.

Another significant benefit of the D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor is its lower maintenance costs, achieved through long service intervalsof 8,000 hours for the compressor and its internal components. Its maintenance is mostly hassle-free because of easy ducting, fewer parts, and greater service accessibility; while itsdesign ensures high ease of installation and maintenance, consequently reducing associated service costs.

The D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor meets the stringent hygienic standardsof its end-user industriesand have been certified ISO 8573-1 Class Zero (2010) to be silicone free. The two radial fans within the compressors are designed in accordance with the ErP (2015) efficiency legislation.

“The D-Series 2-stage oil-free screw compressor has been designed by CompAir to offer the highest standards of air purity and non-contamination,” observed Paul. “These important product benefits are expected to significantly and rapidly enhance CompAir’s presence in the European screw compressors market.”

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated innovation in product features and functionality that provides enhanced quality and higher value to customers. The award recognizes the rapid acceptance such innovation finds in the marketplace.
