2009 CR-V - - Headliner Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required

  • KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
  • Take care not to bend or scratch the headliner.
  • Be careful not to damage the dashboard or other interior trim.
  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  1. Remove these items:
  2. A-pillar trim, both sides
  3. B-pillar upper trim, both sides
  4. Quarter pillar glass trim, both sides
  5. Ceiling light
  6. Sunvisors, both sides
  7. Grab handles, four places
  1. Remove the roof console (A).
  2. Remove the lenses (B), and remove the bolts (C).
  3. Open the console, and remove the bolts (D).
  4. Lower the roof console, and disconnect the map light connector (E). If equipped, disconnect the moonroof switch connector (F) and the navigation microphone connector (G).
  1. Remove the cap (A) from the center seat belt retractor cover (B).

  1. Lower the headliner (A).
  2. Remove the front door opening seals (B), the rear door opening seals (C), and the tailgate weatherstrip (D) from each roof portion.
  3. Release the clips (E) and the Velcro fasteners (F) from the headliner by pulling down. Take care not to damage the headliner.
  4. Lower the headliner carefully.

Without moonroof

With moonroof

  1. Remove the cushion tapes, then remove the roof wire harness (A) and the antenna lead (AM/FM) (B) from the headliner.

  1. With the help of an assistant, pull the headliner (A) out through the tailgate opening.

NOTE: Do not bend the headliner. Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.

  1. Remove the screws, and remove the retractor cover bracket (A) and the retractor cover (B) from the headliner.
  1. If necessary, remove the side curtain airbag mounting bolt (A) and the grab handle bracket mounting bolts (B), then remove the grab handle bracket (C) from each side clips (D) by pulling the bracket.

NOTE: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.

  1. Install the headliner in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
  2. If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the headliner, sunvisor on deployed side, and removed trim pieces with new ones.
  3. To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the headliner and all removed trim. Replace any pieces with the following damage:
  4. Any crease or tears in the headliner (A)
  5. Any cracks or breakage in the grab handle (B)
  6. Any damages around the grab handle holes (C) or sunvisor holes (D) in the headliner
  7. Any cracks in the sunvisor stay base (E)
  8. Any bends or cracks in the sunvisor stay shaft (F)
  9. Any cracks in the sunvisor base (G)
  10. Any cracks or breakage in the vanity mirror base (H)
  11. Any Velcro fasteners (I) and clip bases (J) which have come off the headliner
  12. When installing the grab handle, push on the handle against the bracket (K) until the clips (L) snap into place securely.
  13. If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
  14. Replace the removed cushion tape with new ones.
  15. Check that both sides of the headliner are securely attached to the body.
  16. Make sure the headliner overlaps the trim pieces correctly.
  17. Be careful not to crease or damage the headliner when reinstalling it through the tailgate opening. Also be careful not to scratch the body.
  18. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
  19. Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.

2009 CR-V - - Moonroof Motor Replacement

NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.

  1. Remove the headliner.
  1. Disconnect the connector (A), and remove the bolts, then remove the motor (B).
  1. Install the motor in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
  2. Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
  3. Do the moonroof control unit resetting procedure.
  4. Check the motor operation.
