A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE OF IRMO, DUTCH FORK, AND CHAPIN FOR BEING NAMED “COALITION OF THE YEAR” BY THE COMMUNITY ANTIDRUG COALITIONS OF AMERICA AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR ALL THE COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE DOES TO GUIDE AND ASSIST YOUNG SOUTH CAROLINIANS IN MAKING WISE PERSONAL CHOICES AND IN BECOMING RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS.
Whereas, many community organizations play a vital role in the positive growth and development of our youth through meaningful programs and guidance; and
Whereas, the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Chapin, whose mission is to encourage and enable the entire community to promote positive youth development is such an organization, and has made significant contributions to the young people of their communities; and
Whereas, the Community Roundtable was established in 1998 and brings together government, businesses, civic associations, the health community, service organizations, law enforcement, schools, faith groups, parents, students, and others in a selfsustaining coalition to discuss, coordinate, and be a catalyst for initiatives that strengthen families and improve the wellbeing of youth in their communities; and
Whereas, the Community AntiDrug Coalitions of America, a national organization whose mission is to build and strengthen community coalitions to create safe, healthy, and drugfree communities, has selected the Community Roundtable to receive its coveted award of “Coalition of the Year”, only two of which were awarded in the country this year; and
Whereas, the selection process to receive this award is stringent and carries special significance in that the award honors coalitions that prove and demonstrate success, a prestigious tribute to the measurable difference the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Chapin is making in the lives of their young people. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Chapin for being named “Coalition of the Year” by the Community AntiDrug Coalitions of America and express appreciation for all the Community Roundtable does to guide and assist young South Carolinians in making wise personal choices and in becoming responsible citizens.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Community Roundtable of Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Chapin.
