TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CAITLYN LYDIA CARLILE OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HER THE BEST IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the General Assembly recognizes South Carolina youth who excel both in and outside of the classroom and who have exhibited a lasting commitment to their individual communities at young ages; and

Whereas, Caitlyn Lydia Carlile is certainly one such individual, having already accomplished many goals in her sixteen short years; and

Whereas, a straightA student for her entire academic career, Caitlyn was selected for the middle school “Battle of the Brains” team and was the recipient of the 2005 South Carolina Governor’s Citizenship Award; and

Whereas, an active community volunteer, Caitlyn has collected donations for countless charity organizations and serves as a school library volunteer and an Operation Christmas Child volunteer. She also has completed over 200 hours of service toward the Presidential Community Service Award; and

Whereas, Caitlyn remains dedicated to sharing her faith and participates in her church’s drama productions, handbell choir, and youth choir; and

Whereas, deeply involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, Caitlyn has served as a member of her school’s competitive cheerleading team, learned American Sign Language, won fifteen competition medals as an Irish dancer, taken piano lessons, participated in the University of South Carolina Upstate Summer Drama Camp, and sung at the Inman Harvest Day Festival; and

Whereas, awarded for her beauty, talent, and poise, Caitlyn is the reigning Miss South Carolina Senior Division PreTeen America, and will represent South Carolina at the PreTeen National Competition in Birmingham, Alabama on July 27, 2006. She also was the South Carolina Junior Division titleholder in 2002, placing second at the national competition in 2003; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take great delight in recognizing the life and accomplishments of sixteenyearold Caitlyn Lydia Carlile, and know that they will often hear of her continued success in the years to come. Now, therefore,
