A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE 2004 SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL “GREEN WAVES” BOYS SWIM TEAM AND HEAD COACH DAN MCDONOUGH ON CAPTURING THE AAAA STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, with a dozen swimmers claiming points for the Summerville High School Boys “Green Wave” Swim Team, Summerville took a resounding 55.5point lead over Wando High School to claim it’s second consecutive AAAA State Swimming Championship; and

Whereas, the “Green Wave” team, comprised of Nathan Figg, Bryson Jeffords, Richard Johnson, Michael Kelly, Eric Lehman, Alex Sauer, Konrad Swartzmiller, Seth Turner, Bryan Von Dohlen, and Paul Westfall, topped its lower state qualifying time in all but one event on its way to victory; and

Whereas, though several of the 2003 team members had graduated, the team was driven to retain their state title and advanced on the strength, hard work, and dedication of their returning members, as well as of their “Green Wave” rookies; and

Whereas, Coach McDonough had his team train right up until the end of the season, rather than resting before qualifying, resulting in fewer qualifiers but strong, quality swimmers; and

Whereas, Coach McDonough and Assistant Coach Dave Horton are to be congratulated on their leadership, guidance, and effective training strategies, while the “Green Wave” team is to be commended for their dogged determination and commitment to excellence; and

Whereas, this outstanding finish for the 2004 Summerville Boys Swim Team has brought great pride and recognition to Summerville High School, its administration, staff, students and loyal fans; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize this outstanding group of talented young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the 2004 Summerville High School “Green Wave” Boys Swim Team and Head Coach Dan McDonough on capturing the AAAA State swimming championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the 2004 Summerville High School Boys Swim Team, Head Coach Dan McDonough, and other school officials.
