A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE CALHOUN ACADEMY “CAVALIERS” FOOTBALL TEAM OF CALHOUN COUNTY ON THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND CAPTURING THE 2004 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS AA STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND HONORING THESE OUTSTANDING PLAYERS, COACH ADAM JARECKI AND HIS STAFF, AND THE CALHOUN ACADEMY.

Whereas, the Calhoun Academy “Cavaliers” of Calhoun County capped their outstanding 2004 football season by taking the South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class AA state title with a resounding 216 win over Dorchester Academy; and

Whereas, this crowning victory was truly a team effort with a driving offense and defense that couldn’t be budged; and

Whereas, the 2004 Calhoun Academy “Cavaliers” had a fantastic season with a 122 record and captured Calhoun Academy’s first state football championship since 1978; and

Whereas, after the championship game, Coach Jarecki was quoted as saying: “The year was wonderful and the effort of the team was tremendous. The support for the Cavaliers was incredible as a capacity crowd made the trip Friday night to Orangeburg”; and

Whereas, this outstanding finish for the Calhoun Academy Football Team signifies that Coach Jarecki’s “Cavaliers” are truly a power in South Carolina Class AA football and is a testament to the “Cavaliers” dedication, hard work and determination; and

Whereas, Coach Jarecki and his staff are to be commended for their superb coaching, guidance, and leadership; and Calhoun Academy’s administration, faculty, students, and families were unfailing in their support, helping to create a truly memorable season; and

Whereas, the “Cavaliers” have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize this outstanding group of talented young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Calhoun Academy Football team of Calhoun County on their outstanding season and capturing the 2004 South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class AA State football championship, and honoring these outstanding players, Coach Adam Jarecki, his staff, and the Calhoun Academy.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Calhoun Academy Championship “Cavaliers” football team, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Adam Jarecki, his coaching staff, and the administration of Calhoun Academy.
