A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND MEMORIALIZE PALMETTOPRIDE FOR RECEIVING THE KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL GOLD AWARD AND FOR THE KEEP SOUTH CAROLINA BEAUTIFUL AFFILIATES RECEIVING TWENTYTWO OTHER NATIONAL AWARDS AND TO DECLARE APRIL TWENTIETH AS PALMETTOPRIDE DAY.

Whereas, the commitment of organizations to community service is always appreciated by the citizens and officials of South Carolina and the efforts to keep our State litterfree and beautiful should be recognized and rewarded; and

Whereas, PalmettoPride and local South Carolina Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliates were recognized at the National KAB Conference in Washington, D.C. for having some of the most effective antilitter and beautification programs in the nation; and

Whereas, the South Carolina affiliates were presented with twentytwo awards for their excellence in litter prevention, beautification and community improvement, and encouraging citizens to take action against litter, and brought home the most national awards in South Carolina history; and

Whereas, receiving the highest recognition, the Gold Level State Affiliate Recognition Award, PalmettoPride was honored for successfully initiating the KAB State guidelines and promoting the KAB mission to engage individuals to take a greater responsibility for improving their community environments; and

Whereas, in addition to the Gold Award, the South Carolina Department of Transportation was awarded the United States Department of Transportation Partnership Award for its continued support of PalmettoPride; and

Whereas, Keep South Carolina Beautiful, a division of PalmettoPride, coordinated with the seventeen local KAB statewide and grassroots organizations to involve citizens in making the State litterfree; and

Whereas, PalmettoPride is leading the effort to make our State litterfree by unifying citizens, state agencies, law enforcement, the private sector, statewide media, local organizations, and Keep South Carolina Beautiful and its local affiliates. Because of PalmettoPride’s unending commitment to the beautification of South Carolina, the General Assembly declares April twentieth PalmettoPride Day. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and memorialize PalmettoPride for receiving the Keep America Beautiful Gold Award, and for the Keep South Carolina Beautiful affiliates receiving twentytwo other national awards and to declare April twentieth PalmettoPride Day.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to PalmettoPride.
