Jurisdiction(s) You Serve Santa Monica, CA

In the space provided below, please answer the following questions:

Describe the duties and responsibilities of your current position.

Manager of Cable Television Division for the City of Santa Monica, CA. This includes overseeing cable consumer complaints, cable franchise administration and managing the government access cable channel, City TV.

Describe what in your background will make you a valuable member of the SCAN NATOA Board.

I have a great enthusiasm for SCAN NATOA and am willing to put in the time, energy and facility support of CityTV of Santa Monica to support SCAN's activities. I have been active in national NATOA over the years, serving on the programming committee, publications committee and member services committee, as well as speaking at NATOA conferences and writing articles for NATOA publications. Along with the CityTV staff, we are able to coordinate, organize, publicize and take reservations for SCAN NATOA events and projects.

Describe your involvement in SCAN NATOA activities to date.

I have been on the SCAN NATOA Board since 1996. Co-chair SCAN Spring Conference for seven years. Co-chair STAR Awards competition for seven years. Coordinator of various workshops and programs. CityTV of Santa Monica has served as host city and facility for many SCAN events. Active SCANnette.

Describe in detail what SCAN NATOA, as an organization, should be doing to better to serve the needs of our members. How would you propose implementation of your ideas?

My emphasis and priority is government access programming. I believe that SCAN can play a vital role in making government access expertise, programs and resources available to all of its programming members. Projects such as the Comet Network and the Great City Hall Tune-In are just the start of what SCAN NATOA can provide to its members. National NATOA does not have an emphasis an serving the needs of government access members. There needs to be an organization, that is responsive to, and serves the needs of government access programmers. I believe that SCAN NATOA can become that organization while still serving the needs of other members. You see it m our programs, educational tracks at our annual conference, dedicated list-serve for programmers and more. There is so much more that I would like to see happen, and although I haven't been been able to do all I would like to accomplish for SCAN would like to have the opportunity to continue to serve.

Summarize why you want to serve on the SCAN NATOA Board of Directors.

I truly believe that by all of us working together, we can accomplish a great future for the wonderful world of government access cable, I believe that we need to be working together in order to compete successfully for an audience, remain relevant and provide quality programming. I would be honored to serve on the SCAN NATOA Board for another term.

Thank you for your consideration.
