A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE “WILDCATS” OF WEST ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER TEAM OF CHARLESTON FOR WINNING THE 2002 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2002, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina take great pleasure in congratulating the “Wildcats” of West Ashley High School Girls Soccer Team of Charleston for winning the 2002 Class AAAA State Championship on Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Memorial Stadium in Columbia; and

Whereas, the West Ashley High School Girls Soccer Team finished the season with an overall record of nineteen wins and five losses, an amazing accomplishment for a high school that is just two years old; and

Whereas, the West Ashley “Wildcats” showed great character and class in addition to a winning attitude as they defeated Mauldin High School in a 21 victory in the championship game; and

Whereas, the team won their first State AAAA Championship this year, and this was also the first State Championship ever won by a West Ashley High School team in any sport; and

Whereas, the West Ashley High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team was lead by a confident Coach Drew McNeely. Coach McNeely knew his “Wildcats” had numerous young talented players who gave his squad great depth and knew his team had the ingredients to win the Class AAAA State Championship; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives applaud the “Wildcats” of the West Ashley High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team and their coach, Drew McNeely, on their fantastic season and their exciting championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the “Wildcats” of West Ashley High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team of Charleston for winning the 2002 Class AAAA State Championship on Saturday, May 11, 2002, and wish them every success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Drew McNeely on behalf of the West Ashley High School Girls Soccer Team.
