A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THRIFT BROTHERS OF SENECA ON RECEIVING THE CAROLINAS AGC’S 2001 PINNACLE AWARD AS CONTRACTOR FOR “BEST UTILITY PROJECT’, THE SOUTHERN CONNECTOR IN GREENVILLE COUNTY.
Whereas, in 1991, the contractor members of the Carolinas AGC’s Strategic Plan Task Force envisioned a program to honor “the best of the best” in the Carolinas construction industry and, to this end, the Pinnacle Awards were established; and
Whereas, the first Pinnacle Awards were bestowed in 1992; the awards recognize the standard of excellence that has become the tradition of the Pinnacle Awards; and
Whereas, the “Best Utility Project” was judged to be The Southern Connector in Greenville County, South Carolina, with Thrift Brothers of Seneca as the contractor; and
Whereas, this sixteenmile toll road has seven interchanges, fortyfive bridges, and a fourlane divided interstate; The Southern Connector involved more than half a million tons of asphalt and eight million cubic yards of earthwork; Thrift Brothers’ highrisk job required intense coordination among the management, financing, design, rightofway, utility, construction and inspection teams involved; and
Whereas, this notable designbuilt project stands out in many ways, not the least of which is that the success of its unique publicprivate funding has made possible many other road projects for South Carolina’s Upstate truly a unique and valuable contribution to the Carolinas. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Thrift Brothers of Seneca on receiving the Carolinas AGC’s 2001 Pinnacle Award as contractor for “Best Utility Project”, The Southern Connector in Greenville County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Thrift Brothers in Seneca.
