A HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL CAVALIERS BOYS’ GOLF TEAM AND THEIR COACH, R. J. BEACH, ON THEIR 20 STROKE WIN OVER NINETYSIX HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE SCHOOL’S FOURTH CLASS A REGION II STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE LAST SIX YEARS.
Whereas, the Boys’ Golf Team of Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville shot a twoday total 625 to capture a 20 stroke win over NinetySix High School at the Wellman Club in Johnsonville for the Class A, Region II Boys’ Golf State Title; and
Whereas, this victory was the fourth State Boys’ Golf Title for the Cavaliers in the last six years and the sixth Golf Class A State Championship for the school; and
Whereas, the team came to the championship match well prepared and with dogged determination, having played four tournaments that included the best Class AAA and AAAA golf teams in the State; and
Whereas, individual season honors accrued to senior Corbett Cummings, team captain, and two freshmen, Frank Wrenn and Ward Williams, for being selected to the AllState Boys’ Golf Team and to freshman Frank Wrenn who also won the Individual State Championship by shooting a second round score of 69 giving him a two round total of 146 and a one stroke victory; and
Whereas, the remaining members of the team, solid and precise players, include senior Brent Abbott, junior Justin Youkey, sophomores Jimmy Ferguson and Gunn Murphy, freshman Sean Evins, and eighth grader Chris Siler; and
Whereas, the Cavaliers captured this title under the superb coaching of Coach R. J. Beach with the unfailing support of the administration, including Leland H. Cox, Jr., Head Master, William C. Sparrgrove, Upper School Director, and Ashley G. Haskins, Athletic Director; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is please to have this opportunity to recognize and congratulate such an outstanding group of fine young men and exceptional golfers. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Christ Church Episcopal School Cavaliers Boys’ Golf Team and their coach, R. J. Beach, on their 20 stroke win over NinetySix High School for the school’s fourth Class A Region II State Golf Championship in the last six years.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Christ Church Episcopal School Golf Team and their coach, R. J. Beach.
