SECTION A STATEMENT

1.“他点的食物比需要的还多。”

换句话说他点的食物太多了,而实际上不需要这么多,所以选A。

2.“如果那间房子没被粉刷成蓝色, 将是个有吸引力的房子。”

这是个非真实条件句,用虚拟语气表示与真实情况相反,因此这句话可以理解为“由于漆成了蓝色, 这个房子变得没有吸引力了。” 即B: 蓝色糟蹋了这所房子。

3.“上周日天气预报说台风将在周一登陆, 但它是两天后才到的。”

这是个测试时间的细节题。 题中出现了两个时间状语作为干扰。 如果在听之前先看题目, 就知本题问的是台风最终登陆的时间,这样在听的时候就能有重点地留意相关信息Monday,two days late, 运用常识就可推算出答案为C:星期三。

4.“我的书法比Steve的好看, 但不如Kate的。”

本题出现了形容词的两个比较结构。 “形容词比较级+than-分句” 表示“比…更”;“not +as(so) +形容词原级+as…”相当于“less…than…”意思是“不如…”, 因此选C。

5.“我本来要去超市的, 但我的表姐突然来了。”

本题的前半句为虚拟语气, 其完整的意义是“If my cousin hadn't come suddenly, I would have gone to the supermarket.(如果我的表姐不是突然来的话, 我就已经去超市了)”。 按照虚拟语气要用相反的意思来理解的原则, 那么本句的意思是“我没去超市, 因为我的表姐突然来了。” 答案应为C。

6.“暴风雪使火车停滞不前。”

问发生了什么呢? 我们可以用排除法。 B: 火车出轨了,原文只说火车停下来,并没提到偏离轨道;C: 由于大雪人们不能登上火车;D: 人们站在火车旁观看暴风雪 都与原文不相符,只有A:火车陷于雪里了,最有可能导致火车停下来, 因此选A。

7.“Bill需要用信用卡和他的驾驶证才能把支票兑换成现金。”

词组cash a check (cheque): 把支票兑成现金,是理解本题的关键。 答案为B。

8.“尽管研究论文很短, 但却比教授原来想的要好。”

A:论文如预期的一样很长;B:论文如预期的一样很短;论文实际上比预期的要好;D:论文太短了而不好。原文没提到对论文预期的是长是短, 只说比预期的好, 因此C最符合原文。

9. M:“你买这件衣服花了多少钱?“

F:“由于是冬季大减价, 我只付了20美元, 但这是平时价格的三分之一。”

问平时这件衣服要花多少钱? 经过简单计算, 平时的价格是减价时的三倍, 即D:'60。

F:“带家具的为两百美金一个月,外加20美元公用设备使用费。”

本题要求通过对话判断F的职业。 通过关键词如rent, furnished, utilities 可以推测本对话是在询问有关房子的租金, 那么F的职业一定是与租房有关, 通过对比四个选择项, 可以看出A: 代理房产商 最切合。
12.F:“Tony, 什么事情使你耽误了?晚饭已经准备好了。”

M:“我立刻就开车回来。刚才我在帮同事搬进新的办公室, 否则已经回来了。”

本题要求推测对话发生的地点。 根据对话内容可以推测,F在家里准备晚饭,M也许在车里,也许在办公室里,总之两人不在一起,但两人却在对话, 所以说他们可能通过电话联系。因此选C。
13.M:“这会使我很久踢不了足球吗?”

F:“不会太久。 我原以为你的脚裸扭伤,但X光检查显示只是挫伤。”

问两人在谈什么。 几个干扰项都似是而非,如果对原文只是一知半解,或仅凭几个词或词组,就有可能被迷惑,只有听懂全部内容并通过分析,才能断定尽管话题里出现了足球,提到了X光,但所有内容都是围绕着一次脚受伤而已,而脚也只是挫伤并非骨折,因此C为最佳答案。
14.F:“我必须去图书馆, 因为到明天我必须完成我的科研项目。 不过如果可能的话, 我真想和你们一起去剧院。”

M:“我希望你能来。”

本题问F去哪。 解题的关键是听清F的说话及虚拟语气。 文中提到去library 和theatre, 但当她提到theatre时,用的是虚拟语气,暗示实际上她是想去却去不了,因此答案是A。
15.M:“是否要我打电话告诉你我们的决定?”

F:“当然。”

F是什么意思呢? 只要理解词组by all means,就不难知道F的肯定态度, 也就能找出正确答案D了。

by all means = by all manner of means: 一定, 务必, 尽一切办法,当然可以, 表示赞同,用来强调肯定

另外:

by any means: 用任何可能的方法, 无论如何

by no means = not by any means: 决不, 并没有, 表示不赞同

by means of:用, 依靠

by some means or other: 用某种方法
16.F:“Micky的父母什么时候回来?”
M:“我姐姐说, 既然Micky和我们在这不错, 她和Micky的爸爸将再多呆一天。”

本题要求推测M 与Micky之间的关系。 根据对话内容可知, M的姐姐是Micky的妈妈, 运用常识可以判断他们之间的关系只能是B: 舅甥关系。

The last reading will be read at normal speed again and during this time you should check your work. You will then be given 2 minutes to check through your work once more.

It's apparent that everyone needs to sleep. / However, most people rarely think about how and why they sleep. / We know that if we sleep well, we feel rested. / If we don't sleep enough, we often feel tired and irritable. / It seems there are two purposes of sleep: / physical rest and emotional and psychological rest. / We need to rest our bodies and our minds, / both of which are important in order for us to be healthy. / Each night we alternate between two kinds of sleep: active sleep and passive sleep. / The passive sleep gives our body the rest and prepares us for active sleep, / in which dreaming occurs. /

Throughout the night, people alternate between passive and active sleep. / The brain rests, then it becomes active, then dreaming occurs. / The cycle is repeated and this cycle is repeated several times throughout the night. / During eight hours of sleep, people dream for a total of one and half hours on the average.
