2.Minutes from September06 2007 Conference Call
2.1Agenda
- US/DS map (Gerald)
- Ranging
- Back-off mechanism to reduce collisions /Geolocation ranging subcarriers for CBP
- Agenda for Hawaii meeting
2.2Notes
The meeting was called to order at 10 pm EDT.
Updates on US/DS map (Gerald)
Geraldsummarized the status of US/DS map discussion carried out on MAC call finished a couple of hours ago. One issue to be answered from PHY was how many bits for “power boosting” wereneeded. Currently there were 3 bits indicating power boosting level from 0 to 12 dB with step size 3 dB.
Zander commented that the power boosting step size and range by right should be determined by simulations. Since it was not critical (to save 1 bit) and also we did not have those simulations, we could rely on ball park estimation and the reference step size of 3 dB was quite reasonable considering the application of range extension for higher modulation. We could bring this to the WG to have more thoughts.
Ranging
Geraldreported that John and Ivan had exchanged emails during last week and Ivan was eventually happy with answers from John. The proposed normative text was shown in doc: “Text for sub-carrier allocation and interleaving” (sent to the reflector by John on 30th and yet to be assigned doc #).
Back-off mechanism to reduce collisions/Geolocation ranging subcarriers
Regarding the question of what SIR level was acceptable for CBP to work,Monishacommented that the level of working SINR (w/ interference) should be similar to the level of SNR (w/o interference). Currently she did not have simulation results on that but she would try to do that and bring back to the WG in Sept if possible.
Geraldcommented that there were four possible ways to deal with CBP collision, i.e.
- Simply relying on SIR difference
- Choice of different CBP windows
- Back-off mechanism proposed by Dave
- Scheduling mechanism proposed by Wendong
The pros and cons of above methods should be discussed during WG beforedecision was made in Hawaii meeting.
Agenda for Hawaii meeting
Zanderhad sent out the following list to the reflector for the group to review and discuss.
- US/DS map (Decision; with MAC or in WG; Gerald)
- Diversity permutation scheme (Decision; John)
- Ranging (Decision for text; Ivan)
- Back-off mechanism to reduce collisions (with MAC or in WG; Dave, Wendong, Gerald)
- Geolocation ranging subcarriers for CBP (Ivan, Gerald)
- Aggregate interference and maximum EIRP control (PresentationDecision; ChengShan, Steve)
- Working document review (Gerald)
2.3Next call
The next PHY conference call will be held at 9 am EDT on Sept 13, 2007. The group will review the working document online through the bridge provided by Carl. The potentialattendee should
