1.0Job Purpose

To provide a pro-active central commercial finance service across Inter Terminals.

2.0Main duties (include, but are not limited to):

Commercial investment appraisal and decision support:

  • Act as owner and operator of the capital investment appraisal model
  • Evaluate capital investment and other expenditure proposals
  • Prepare formal capital expenditure proposals for senior management and Board
  • Carry out capital expenditure ‘lookback’ analyses

Management information:

Working with terminal Finance teams, provide regular and timely reporting of commercially focused management information including:

  • “M3” and throughput analysis
  • Analysis of revenue (including fixed / variable) and margins
  • Contract analysis

Review, develop and improve management information

Business and market intelligence:

Provide a comprehensive and pro-active business and market intelligence service to Inter Terminals, working closely with the Commercial team

Produce regular research and analysis of, and reports on:

  • Western European economies;
  • The oil & gas, chemical and biofuels markets;
  • Inter Terminals’ competitors and customers.

Research and analysis of potential acquisitions:

Carry out research and analysis of potential acquisitions, and prepare presentations and reports of the same for senior management.

Carry out other work as directed by Inter Terminals FP&A Manager.

3.0Post Requirements

Qualifications

Part Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

Experience

Commercially focused individual with relevant prior commercial experience

Knowledge/ Sill- set:

Essential:

  • Very strong financial analysis and modelling skills
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Very good presentation and report writing skills
  • Very good inter-personal and team working skills
  • High degree of initiative, pro-active, hands-on, self-starterAbility to influence peers and senior management
  • Very strong organisation skills, with ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the oil & gas, chemical and biofuels sectors
  • Knowledge of Swedish, Danish or Germanlanguage

Other:

  • Willing to travel (Sweden, Denmark, Germany, North East England)

4.0Impact and Influence

4.1Autonomy and accountability:

Work is characterized by being task- and assignments-based and is steered by functional practices and guidelines.

Work is subject to managerial guidance as well as follow-up of intermediate- and end-results.

4.2Communication and stakeholder management:

Job holder will need to make reasoned arguments and provide advice based on data, analytics, facts etc.

Internal stakeholders are typically peers or senior co-workers within and across departments as well as direct manager

In a commercial setting, communication is focused on advice, persuasion and negotiation around standard, transactional products and services where there are specific guidelines

4.3Complexity of work:

Work is varied but there exist a lot of functional precedents for how to solve most challenges.Complex assignments are typically solved together with manager or senior co-worker.Planning horizons are typically daily to weekly where some assignments may stretch up to a couple of months.
