Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I will be guiding you through your exploration of 7th grade Texas History this year. If you follow classroom rules and procedures, keep a positive attitude and work hard you will be successful. I look forward to an enjoyable school year!

Students study the history of Texas from early times to the present, including the cultures of American Indians living in Texas prior to European exploration and the eras of mission-building, colonization, revolution, republic, and statehood.

1st6 Weeks: Geography and Regions, Native Americans, European Exploration

2nd6 Weeks:Spanish Colonization, Anglo-American Colonization, Texas Revolution, Republic & Statehood

3rd6 Weeks: Mexican-American War/Manifest Destiny, Civil War, and Reconstruction

4th 6 Weeks:Frontier Wars, industrialization

5th 6 Weeks:Age of Oil, Progressive Era, Great Depression, Dust Bowl, WWI, WWII, and Urbanization

6th 6 Weeks:Modern Era, Principles of Government

(1) Bradded Folder with pockets / 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
Writing utensils (pens or pencils) and a red checking pen / Notebook paper
1 Elmers glue / 1 box of Klennex or paper towels,

EXPECTATIONS/Discipline

Students are expected to follow all rules and expectations in class at all times. Disruptions will not be tolerated.

IV. Late assignments- will lose 10 points for each day late. 1 day late = 90, 2 days late = 80, 3 days late = 70. If an assignment is over 3 days late, the highest a student can receive is a 50. If an assignment is never turned in, it will result in a 0.

V. Make-Up Work:

It is the student’s responsibility to check the make-up work folder, and/or ask the teacher or a peer for the make-up assignments. Students have one day per day absent to make-up their work.

VI. TUTORIALS

Tutorials will be held on Thursdays after school from 3:45p.m.-5:00 p.m.

VII. TARDY POLICY

Any student is consideredTardyif they are not in their assigned seat with all listed supplies and working on the given assignment when the bell rings. Students who arrive late without a pass must go to the office to receive a pass before being admitted into class.

VIII. CHEATING

Don't!!!!!!! If you caught copying someone else's work, both students will get zeros. If you are caught plagiarizing any work you will receive a grade of zero.

Please read and return this page. Your students will receive a grade of 100 if this page is returned within the first week of school (Deadline August 28, 2015).
