AFTER DEATH, SOUL SLEEPERS, ANNIHILATION CULTS

Whether Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seven Day Adventists, Annihilationists, No Fire in Hellers, Hell is the Gravers, you can always be sure that they will pull the Hebrew and Greek on you. Well, we have submitted the Hebrew/Greek equivalents for them in this compendium of verses against such. The other tactic of these cults is to pull the old “that is a parable trick. Or “soul/spirit” means “life” or “BREATH.” Or they will use the old HELL is the GRAVE trick. Try Substituting “breath” in the places that “spirit and “soul” are mentioned and you will have these Modern Day Sadducees' views as to what “spirit” and “soul” mean to them. – Herb Evans

Sleep is for the BODY but not the Soul and Spirit

Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame andeverlasting contempt.

Luke 8:49 – 55 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit [pneuma] came again, and she arose straightway . . .

Luke 20:33 - 38 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for ALL live unto him.

1 Cor 15:16 -- 22 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christare perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Act 7:55 -60 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying,Lord Jesus, receive my spirit [pneuma].And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice . . . And when he had said this, he fell asleep [his body].

Act 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

1Cor 15:18 - 21 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished[they never perish]. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept [Christ’s Body].

1Thess 5:23 . . . I pray God your whole spirit [pneuma]and soul [psuche]and body [soma]be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul [psuche] and spirit [pneuma],and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Is Man’s Spirit/Soul “Breath?”

Job 34:14, 15 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his SPIRIT[ruach]and hisBREATH [neshamaw]; All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Act 23:8, 9 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit[pneuma]:but the Pharisees confess both. And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit [pneuma]or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

1Cor 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit [pneuma]may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus

2Pet 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul [psuche]from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

Ecc 12:7 . . . the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit [ruach]shall return unto God who gave it.

Jesus, Abraham, Son, and Korahites Alive in SHEOL/HADES

Gen 37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave[sheol]unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

Num 16:30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick [alive]into the pit [sheol]. . .

Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul [nephesh]in hell[sheol]; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One [Jesus’ body]to see corruption.

Act 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul [psuche] in hell[sheol], neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Luke 23:42 - 46 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, TO DAY shalt thou be with me IN PARADISE. . . And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit[pneuma]: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Note: Hades and Sheol are not an excavated grave or a sepulcher for the body. It is a grave for the soul. It would take a mighty big hole to hold all of Capernaum’s people. Hades and Sheol (Hell) are a place in which people go after death. It is the undseen world. “And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell[hades].” (Luke 10:15)

Gen 50:3 - 6 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days. And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and BURY my father, and I will come again. And Pharaoh said, Go up, and BURY thy father, according as he made thee swear.

Act 12:23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost [ek-psucho].

The Soul leaves the Mortal Body and Then Comes Back

Gen 35:18 And it came to pass, as her soul [nephesh], was in departing(for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.

Luke 8:49 – 55 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, butsleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit [pneuma]came again, and she arose straightway . . .

And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul [nephesh] of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Saints Can Expect to Seethe Lord and Dead Loved Ones after leaving their Mortal Body

2Sam 12:21 - 23 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

2Cor 5:1 - 9 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle [body] were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this [body] we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight :) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord . . .

2Pet 1:13, 14 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle [the real “I” is in your tabernacle, the body], to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Phi 1:21 - 24 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is FAR BETTER: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Rich man in Flames, Lazarus in the Prison Paradise After Death

Luke 16:22 - 31 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this FLAME. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Ecc 9:4 – 6 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
