PROVINCIAL PROGRAMS APPLICATION FORM

Listed below are the 2013 Provincial 4-H Programs available to all New Brunswick Senior 4-H members. If you are interested in any of these, please complete the attached application form and return it to: NB 4-H Council Ltd.; 267 Connell Street, Unit 5, Woodstock, NB; E7M 1L2. Telephone 324-6244; Fax 325-9266 or e-mail . Please note that only members in good standing are allowed to participate in provincial 4-H activities, meaning that club dues must be paid to the NB

4-H Council. Also note that members are to bring their Medicare card to each event. You will receive more information on the event, registration forms, etc. at a later date. Tick the events you are interested in.

NB 4-H ANNUAL CANOE TRIP

WHO:4-H members 13 years of age and up, leaders and parents. All are welcome!

WHAT:A well-supervised weekend canoe trip and camping expedition, which will includeswimming, skits, bonfires and fun!

WHEN:Spring/Summer 2013 (If we have enough interested members)

WHERE: To be determined.

COST:$40.00 per person registration fee. Transportation to and from the trip is the responsibility of the member, leader or parent.

EASTGEN 4-H SHOWCASE

WHO:15 4-H dairy project members and 10 beef project members 13 years of age and over as of January 1, 2013.. Members from the other Atlantic Provinces will attend. All beef and dairy members are eligible to apply unless you were a past overall winner at the Showcase.

WHAT:If you want to improve your showing skills and knowledge of cattle, let EastGen. teach you everything you need to know. You bring your own project animal (unclipped) to the Showcase. All activities will be carried out in English.

WHEN:July 12-14, 2013

WHERE:NSAC and Provincial Exhibition Grounds, Truro, Nova Scotia

COST:$110.00 registration fee. Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of the 4-H member. Transportation for the animal is the responsibility of the member.

NB 4-H CLOVERBUD ANDJUNIOR CONFERENCE CAMPCOUNSELLORS

WHO:4-H members over the age of 16 to chaperone members aged 6 through 11.

Members selected will be contacted.

WHAT: A 3-day conference & camp where members participate in sessions ranging from crafts, hiking, horseback riding, ropes course, soccer, basketball, campfires, water activities and safety.

WHEN:June 14-16, 2013

WHERE:Caton’s Island, Brown’s Flat, N.B.

COST:Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the member.

NATIONAL 4-H DAIRY CONFERENCE: MADISON, WISCONSIN

WHO:One 4-H member whohas outstanding dairy accomplishment records and:

1) has achieved at least 3 years in the 4-H dairy project including the current year

2) are aged 15 but not more than 18 years of age before January 1, 2013

3) have not attended the National 4-H Dairy Conference before

4) are not exhibiting dairy animals at this year’s World Dairy Expo

5) are not participating in this year’s National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

WHAT:An excellent 4-H Dairy program developed to help the dairy industry meet the developmental needs of youth, and provide them with a better understanding of the production, processing, marketing and use of dairy products as well as a broader understanding of careers available in dairy production, biotechnology, genetics, processing, marketing and other selected areas. Workshops, speakers, tours and visiting the World Dairy Expo.

WHEN:September 29-October 2, 2013

WHERE:University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.

COST:$275.00 registration fee.

NOTE:On a separate sheet of paper please list your involvement in the 4-H Dairy Project and any Dairy Project Awards you may have received.

An essay must be submitted with your application. In this essay of at least 200 words please explain why you would be a good candidate to represent the New Brunswick 4-H Program at the National 4-H Dairy Conference. What abilities or talents do you have to make a real contribution to this conference?
