In 2016 the Community Service Committee will be filling the backpacks with the school supplies collected so no backpacks will be delivered to the participants. Our goal is to fill every backpack with supplies, and we need your help!
To get the best possible participation from your tenants, send out a letter to your Tenant Contacts, with the Flyer and School Supply List attached. An email is good but a letter seems to do a better job of getting their attention. Also, the drive can be promoted by publishing an article in your building newsletter, a large sign or two in your lobby or concourse, through email communication and by putting out stapled copies of the flyer and School Supply List at your Concierge Desk (or Security Desk, Office, Etc.). The more you promote the drive, the better your results will be!
Insert your building’s name, contacts, address, etc. for your Tenant Contact letters, sign, flyer and newsletter articles, instead of the example as listed in the samples.
For 2016, BOMA Dallas Foundationwill provide backpacks for distribution tokids with Our Friends Place, Jonathan’s Place, Interfaith Housing Coalition, The Family Place, Alley’s House, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Vogel Alcove, New Beginnings Center,Hope’s Door, IKandy Foundation, and Dallas Advocate Program.
Here is the drive timeline:
1)Drive dates are June 6 – July 30.

Your bldg, in cooperation with Our Friends Place, Jonathan’s Place, Interfaith Housing Coalition, The Family Place, Alley’s House, Genesis Women’s Shelter, New Beginnings Center,Hope’s Door, Dallas Advocate Program, IKandy Foundation, and Volgel Alcove is participating in the School Supply Drive. The drive is taking place from June 6 – July 30.
Building tenants can pick up a flyer containing a list of requested school supplies at the (Concierge Desk or Security Desk, Your Office, Etc.). Participants must register with (Contact Name). School supplies can then be purchased and returned to (Concierge Desk or Security Desk, Your Office, Etc.) by July 30 at the latest. Questions? Call (Contact Name) at (Phone Number). Thank you!

Tenants can get a list of suggested school supplies at the Concierge Desk(or Security Desk, Your Office, Etc.). Building employees can then shop for school supplies and return to the Concierge Desk (or Security Desk, Your Office, Etc.) by July 30 at the latest.

CHARITIES THAT BENEFIT FROM DRIVE
The Family Placeprovides emergency shelter, counseling and emergency relief services for women and children victims of domestic violence at our Safe Campus.
Alley’s Houseis a shelter and education center that provides services for Teen Mothers.
Our Friends Placenurtures girls who have been abused, neglected and abandoned through therapeutic residential care and the teaching of independent living skills.
Interfaith Housing Coalitionprovides transitional housing, training, and support services for Dallas area homeless families.
Genesis Women’s Shelterstrives to provide quality safety and shelter to battered women & their children.
Vogel Alcoveis a quality childcare center for homeless children whose families reside in area emergency and transitional housing programs.
New Beginning Centerwas established in 1983 to serve abused women and their families to help break the cycle of domestic violence.
Hope’s Dooris a shelter and education center helping battered women and children.
Jonathan’s Placeis the first, licensed foster group home of the State of Texas specializing providing transitional living and special care to drug-exposed infants & in small children.
IKandy Foundationprovide at risk youth with education, guidance and counseling to succeed with their education.
Dallas County Advocate Program service young men and women ages 11 to 17 years old. As part of our wraparound family model we offer Life Skill and Adult Living classes. We teach that hygiene plays a huge part in life, both in health and unfortunately through perception. All youth served come from low income families making it hard at times to provide basic needs.
