A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. GLADYCE QUICK MOORE OF ASHEBORO, NORTH CAROLINA, MOTHER OF JEFF MOORE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION, AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Gladyce Quick Moore of Asheboro, North Carolina, who died on February 2, 2000; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore is the mother of Jeff Moore, the executive director of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association since 1982 and our good friend; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore moved to Asheboro from High Point, North Carolina in 1972. During World War II, she served as a legal stenographer for the Navy WAVES. She also served as secretary to former Congressman John L. McMillian and was the past president of the Pinewood Ladies Golf Association; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Ben Moore, and sons, Jeff of Columbia, South Carolina, Kevin of Chester, New Jersey, and Todd of Asheboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by five grandchildren and a brother, Johnny Quick of Dillon, South Carolina; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly want Mrs. Moore’s family to know that they are uppermost in their thoughts and have the members’ deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Gladyce Quick Moore of Asheboro, North Carolina, and extend deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Gladyce Quick Moore.
