Academics

Research re colleges

Good academics, inexpensive, close to home but not too close (350 miles)

math

fewest courses in major required -- wanted to take broad spectrum of liberal arts

No good descriptors -- ran full gamut from absolutely boring or ridiculous to superb -- a crime to miss.

Mr. Gooch's political science - a teacher and a gentleman, Dr. Whyburn's complex variables - great teacher, A Philosophy of Science class (Don't remember teacher but also great. I'll not list the classes where we counted "ums" or noted other idiosyncrasies.)

Dean Bice - helpful and personable, BFD Runk – imposing, Dean Griffen (I believe) - twice yearly discussions of cut probation.

Inconsistency -- some easy; some demanding -- I sometimes took advantage of opportunity; sometimes not. Broader range of opinions than reflected today in Alumni news; a more open atmosphere

Most Vivid Memory

Nothing worth writing about. It was an enjoyable, (then) stressful, time. (Stress primarily financial -- I put myself through.) I took away a great deal. I was proud to be an alumnus, and still follow athletics. I do not agree with the politicization of academics that has occurred over the years. [signed Steven Cohen]
