I.Purposes & Goals: To encourage sports participation, to promote friendship, and to enhance unity and harmony among over-seas Chinese.

V.Age Groups:

1. 7 & Under: Born 2010 or after

2. 8-9:Born 2008 – 2009

3. 10-11: Born 2006 – 2007

4. 12-13: Born 2004– 2005

5. 14-15: Born 2002 – 2003

6. 16-17: Born 2000 – 2001

7. 18-29: Born 1988– 1999

8. 30-39: Born 1978 – 1987

9. 40-49: Born 1968 – 1977

10. 50-59: Born 1958 – 1967

11. 60-69: Born 1948 – 1957

12. 70-79: Born 1938 – 1947

13. 80-89: Born 1928 – 1937

14. 90 & Over: Born 1927 or before

VI.Events: 50m, 100m & 200m freestyle; 50m & 100m backstroke; 50m & 100m breaststroke; 50m & 100m butterfly; 200m individual medley; 100m family relay (2x50 freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke or butterfly); 200m (4x50) freestyle relay; 200m (4x50) medley relay; and 400m (4x100) freestyle relay.

VII.Group Champions:Group championship awards will be provided to separate Open and Chinese-School categories, including all age groups by gender. First, Second, & Third places championship trophies will be presented to winning teams according to total points accumulated.

VIII. Rules for Group Scoring:

1.All Chinese schools and community swim teams/clubs with a minimum 30 “man-event” entries are eligible for inclusion in the team total score calculation. (each individual event counts as 1 “man-event”, each family relay counts as 2 “man-event”, each 200M, & 400M relay event counts as 4 “man-event”).

2.Championship placement by categories and gender will be based on total points accumulated by each team’s male and female swimmers regardless of their ages. The top three (1st, 2nd , & 3rd place) finishers in each individual event and teams of family relay will be awarded 3, 2 & 1 point(s) respectively. Points will be doubled for team relay events.

3.A tie will be settled first according to the number of 1st place event won by the involved teams.

4.Further ties will be determined by the number of 2nd, and if necessary, 3rd place events won by the involved teams.

IX.Award for Individual Winners: Gold, silver & bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event by age & gender.

XII.Notes on Completing Entries:

1. Entries must be accompanied by entry fees: $6.00 for each individual event & $12.00 for each relay event. Make checks payable to: Chinese American Athletic Association (C.A.A.A)

2. Family relays include husband & wife (H&W), father & son (F&S), father & daughter (F&D), mother& son (M&S), & mother & daughter (M&D) subgroups. An H&W team goes by the younger spouse’s age. For other family relay events, the team goes by the age of the child.

XIII.Restrictions: All events will be conducted by age group & gender, there will be no event entry limitation for all swimmers. With age group of 18-29 as the central base, older & younger swimmers are allowed to converge toward the central base & compete in age groups other than their own; No on-site entries will be accepted on the day of the Meet.

XIV. Schedule of Events: Time for all events are specified in the Meet Manual. All deviations from the established schedule will go by on-site announcements being made by meet officials. No-show or late-responding swimmers shall be defaulted after the third roll call.

XV. Roll call will be done following on-site announcement of each event. Competing swimmers will be ushered to designated seat/lane following roll call & stay ready for start of event.

XVI. Lane assignment is based on draw done by meet organizers. Different age groups may be combined to expedite execution of the meet (with placement kept separately for each group).

XVII. All placements will be by time. Swimmers finishing in the top 8 of an event qualify for the finals in that event when 2 or more preliminary heats are run for that event.

XVIII. 200m Medley Relay: 4 x 50m in sequence of backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly & freestyle

XIX. 200 Individual Medley: 4 x 50M in sequence of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke & freestyle

XX. All swimmers should keep clear of the pool area at the completion of each event; non-competitors (including team staff, coach & parents) are NOT allowed in the pool area.

XXI.False Start: After a second false start, the violating swimmer(s) & his/her/their associated relay team(s); in case of any relay events shall be defaulted for that event, regardless of who committed the first false start.

XXII. In case of bad weather/rain, any postponement will be determined by the organizer. Events will proceed as scheduled before any such announcement is made.

XXIII. Amendments to the rules & procedures will be made as necessary.
