Details of Interest

  • The Caretaker’s Residence is 632 sq. feet with one bedroom. It has a Rinnai instant water heater, a gas range, gas forced hot air heat with central AC. Living room has a high quality gas fireplace, rated as a heating appliance, like a boiler or furnace. It requires no electricity and can be used in a power outage. Nice attached deck on the back for lounging.
  • Separate Barn – with adjacent vintage outbuildings. The large metal structure is large enough for any type of tinkering you can think of. Easily convertible into space for horses.

The metal “Butler” building is 50 x 60and hasan attached 12x25 wash bay. There is also a 24 x16 wooden storage building and metal corn crib.

It is a dream workshop with an air compressor, 220V outlets for welders and man tools, low sodium high intensity discharge lighting, concrete floors and 2 gas fired infrared heaters that span the length of the building. Infrared heat is like the sun, no blowers that spread all the dust and no noise.

75ºF can be reached in 15 minutes at 38º. Behind the building are 2 250 gallon above ground storage tanks for your gasoline and diesel needs. There is also a 12x20x8 tear resistant vinyl fabric open storage unit.

Anyone with an equine fancy could convert the butler building in numerous ways. It already has size, heat, water and electric.

  • The orchard has apples, pears, and figs. Also notice 3 well-heads that supply endless water always.
  • The main house is brick with all 5 star quality windows. No painting except for the front door, garage trim and columns. Roof is brand new.
  • Enter the home via remote controlled garage door. In the garage, an elaborate plumbing and mechanical display. It may be “overkill” (which you will see more of) but its function is for clean water and absolutely no drop of pressure or supply of hot water if all showers, washing machine and dishwasher are operating simultaneously.
  • Gourmet kitchen has gas range, Center Island and the norm. Looking left are French doors that lead to another “overkill.”
  • The outdoor patio with pavers is18 feet deep and 35 foot long. There are 2 gas grills and a green egg smoker. No ugly gas lines because there are quick disconnect hoses to each appliance that attaches at the ceiling. There’s a 220 outlet for an electric deep fryer and attached to the wall is a commercial restaurant salamander (broiler). Above the grill area in the ceiling you see 3 vents. It is an exhaust fan system to remove any smoke away from your guests with a switch control inside next to the French door. Also in the ceiling are Velux natural light tubes and 2 separate banks of dimmable lights. While gourmet cooking, listen to music with 4 exterior Bose speakers, 2 for the patio and 2 for the yard. With the 19’ overhang, you can enjoy the patio in any weather condition. Note: the owner designed the patio so it can be enclosed in glass in the future as an extension of the family room with provisions for gas heat and air conditioning with minimal expense. The patio overhang reduces the cooling costs from the AM sun.
  • The family room has 3 new Andersen sliding doors and features a full brick wall with large arched glass door wood burning fireplace.
  • The formal dining room has a one of a kind hand swirled ceiling. The living room has a half mile view of the crops the farmer chooses to grow that year.

The Master Bedroom Suite The bathroom shower is 6 feet wide, glassed, 2 seats and a tower with jets, nozzles and hand sprays for 2 people made by Kohler that can provide up to 12 gallons per minute. Decorative toilet and matching sink by Kohler.

  • Enter the bedroom from the bathroom and blink twice as you look out at the open space of the seaside. At high or low tides, catching the Inland Waterway or the barrier islands through the Pella windows with privacy blinds built inside the glass. The bedroom has its own minisplit system for heat and AC. A special feature is the Adobe style direct vent gas fireplace that has a control panel at the headboard of the bed which controls on/off, variable blower, front and rear burner. A truly dramatic flame pattern.

The Second Floor

  • First left at the top of the stairs is a bedroom the width of the house with 5 ½” hickory hardwood floor by Bellawood with a 100 year warranty. Also has a large closet with full bath. Viewed from the bed is a mantel with a direct vent gas fireplace and flat screen TV. The fireplace has one remote control which controls on/off, variable blower speed, flame height. Also has night time viewing light when not in operation.
  • The home has heat pump solely for the second floor. The first floor has a recently installed state of the art heat pump with propane backup. At 44º the unit goes from heat pump to propane so you feel nice and toasty no matter how cold it is outside. The owner also raised the condensing units to keep out the landscape debris and give easy accessibility to the units.
  • Also upstairs isan additional full bath on the left and then 3 more bedrooms.
  • There is aFenced Yard for pets, just off the kitchen, to keep your little critters from wandering.
  • AND… Glen Air has a whole house propane generator with a water cooled V-6 vortex engine, 40 KW. It ran for 7 days during hurricane Isabel, no problem with the other 1000 gallon underground tank you own. And an irrigation system and enhanced air filtration.

Indoor Pool andUltimate Party House

Alright gentlemen and ladies, (but in the owner’s experience mostly gentlemen). Separate from the Main house, this 888 sq. feet entertainment space plus pool was built with nothing in mind but fun. Full Bar with commercial cooktop and built-in steamer. Also, subzero refrigerator and built in beverage dispenser. Fireplace of course. Room for a large screen T.V. and plenty of space for any type of party. If that is not enough, walk down 4 steps and enter a large solarium with an enormous pool. Year round water sports. Complete with two saunas. All looking at the Sea over a paver stone patio. Plenty of outdoor space for grilling.

  • Indoor 15x40 foot solar heated salt water pool. The exterior is all Azek or glass with a fiberglass roof. No painting necessary. The perimeter of the whole building is surrounded by stamped concrete or pavement which is lit at dusk with total low voltage lighting. The east side of the indoor pool are all sliding doors with reflective finish to protect from sun with argon gas between the panes. All sliding doors have lifetime brass rollers with locking handles and screens. The pool is 3’ min depth, 12’ deep end. No chemicals. Pool water stays crystal clear with a salt chlorine generator. Just read the monitor and when it goes below 2600 ppm, just add 25lb bag of salt to the water. Swim in the heated pool year round at 84º. Pool water is heated 2 ways, solar or propane. Solar is used from April 1st to December 1st. When pool water is heated to the desired temperature then a valve rotates to bypass and maintain temperature. When solar can’t maintain, it automatically switches to propane. Propane is used for the winter from Dec 1st through April 1st. Huge savings are realized for heating the pool water from solar panels and the pool cover which opens and closes with the turn of a key. Savings of propane purchased are realized because the homeowner owns the tanks. The inside of the pool area is heated by 2 50’ infrared propane heaters which heat just like the sun. Winter month’stemperature is kept at 55º and the pool cover is left open by 2 feet which provides perfect humidity and temperature for growing plants and lovely orchids. In cold winter months the infrared heat can be raised from 55º to 80º in about 20 minutes. During hot summer months, the east and west windows and sliding glass doors can be opened for cross ventilation and windows can pop out for easy cleaning. An exhaust fan on the southern wall automatically expels hot air accumulated on summer days set at 90º. Before, after or both, you have your choice of a steam sauna or infrared sauna. Sit in the infrared at 120º for 15-30 minutes and dive in the pool—just refreshing. Music is available inside the infrared sauna or Bose speakers’ pipe music inside the pool area where you control the volume from either side. Main control is located in the entertainment area.
  • The entertainment area is the ultimate party space and attached to the pool. The bar is… well self-explanatory. Preheat the brand new Cleveland commercial steamer which takes 10 minutes. Feast on Eastern Shore clams, crabs and oysters. Clams – 5minutes 30 seconds, crabs- 8 minutes, and oysters- 7 minutes. All done- empty water tray and serve. Don’t forget shrimp or broccoli- 2 minutes. While waiting for the appetizers, have a cocktail from the huge bar in the corner while watching the large flat screen. You can melt butter on the gas range without burning. You can warm casserole dishes that guests brought in the 2 commercial warming drawers underneath the Viking Charbroiler where you’re making sliders and hot dogs or maybe steaks. Cold outside? Use the Rinnai direct vent 86% efficient gas furnace or the remote controlled, manual or thermostatically controlled direct vent fireplace gas insert. Hot outside – Enjoy the air conditioning of the mini-split and ceiling fans.
  • There is also a full bath of course.
  • Maybe you just want to use the Cleveland steamer and cook everything outside. No problem! Head out to the pergola and use one or all three cookers. Firemagic grill with a griddle, stainless grids, and high intensity infrared burner (steaks) 5” rear burner for rotisserie chicken, turkey or roasts with no flare ups- just walk away and enjoy when temperature is reached. How about brisket, ribs, or Boston butt – use the big green egg. Smoke for 8 hours or more without adding charcoal. Pressed for time- use the stainless Wilmington grill- guaranteed not to flare up. Put your seasoned pork shoulder on- close cover and come back hours later and it’s done. Don’t peek-- if you are looking, you’re not cooking. If it’s dark outside, don’t worry- you’ll have no problem seeing with the high intensity low voltage lights that come on at dusk and shuts off at 2AM. Have a cocktail while tending to your grills and enjoy the music from the Bose speakers. Pull off the cover to the propane fire pit. Watch the dancing flames coming up through the broken Aegean blue glass with your remote control.
