PURCHASER BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFE ENJOYMENT OF FIREWORKS

APPOINT ONE PERSON TO BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR DISPLAY AND POSSIBLY 2-6
ASSISTANTS. MAKE SURE ALL ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING:
  1. No items except Sparklers should be held in the hand.
  2. Do not smoke or allow open flame near fireworks.
  3. Choose a wide, clear site away from overhead obstacles for firing. If aerials or shells
are in use, keep audience at least 30 meters back from lighting area.
4. Watch young children carefully.
5. Sparklers: The first one will be more difficult to ignite - subsequently, light one from
another. Keep children 6 ft. apart and do not allow them to wave Sparklers in each
other's faces. Teach them to hold Sparkler by handle, fully extending arm in front of
them, keeping Sparkler away from clothing or other flammable apparel. Always hold
Sparkler by handle - glowing rod remains hot for some time after use. Do not use on
birthday cakes. Children must be supervised.
6. Be familiar with all of your fireworks before starting your display. Plan the order of firing
before you begin. Notice that there are various types and locations of wicks - e.g., for
items topped with blue paper, the blue paper is the wick. Always light wick or fuse at its
tip.
7. Use a good firing base: e.g., pails, boxes or wheelbarrows filled with earth or sand.
8. For fireworks without a standing base, bury halfway in the ground--unless the labeling
on the item indicates otherwise. Set fireworks at a 10-degree angle, pointing away from
audience.
9. Wheels: Nail securely to post or fence allowing spinning clearance.
10. Do not leave fireworks unattended or close to lighting area. Always keep unlit fireworks
pointing away from people.
11. If an item does not light easily or if it lights but seems to fizzle, stand back and do not
handle for 30 minutes.
12. Keep a large pail of water handy and be sure to hose down all fireworks & debris before
disposal.
13. High winds will affect the quality of your display and may create a hazard. Do not fire in
excessively windy conditions.
14. Storage: store fireworks in a cool, dry, ventilated place, away from children.
