JOB EXPERIENCE Self Employed, Real Estate Investor Boise, ID May 2012-Present

  • Partnered with a longtime associate of mine and invested in real estate throughout the Treasure Valley, purchasing homes and selling them as quick as possible for a profit
  • During the past 8 months I took this time off from my official career development to learn about “flipping” houses, which is the term for buying a property and selling it soon after for a profit.
  • Focused on short sales, foreclosures, bank owned properties and auctions. Also had a licensed real estate agent search for first day listings under the criteria I gave him.
  • To have success I had to learn key aspects to the business including strategies like knowing the top price to pay for a property in order to profit. Other knowledge I gained was how to access information about what price properties in similar locations sold for recently and how long they were on the market. I developed contacts with home repair professionals to get estimates on fixing any issues and to also make the property more desirable. All this knowledge was valuable when negotiating a purchase price.
  • This experience has helped strengthen my negotiating skills, polished up my sales technique along with improving my ability to be extremely effective and personable in business dealings and conversation
  • Now that I have learned a lot of information and developed strategies to continue having success flipping houses, my business partner and I will still keep looking for the right houses to invest in but only on our free time. Therefore I want to continue on with developing my career, and find a company I can be at long-term, advance in status and excel greatly.

Express Employment, St. Lukes PBA Boise, ID February 2012-April 2012

  • Worked for St. Lukes at the Americana business office in their surgery pre-access insurance department
  • Called insurance companies daily to get approval codes and documents faxed over to my department in order to verify patients were covered by their insurance for upcoming surgeries of all types.
  • Had to notify patients if their insurance company declined to approve the procedure
  • Also notified patients if their insurance company had not yet reached an approval decision the day before their surgery was scheduled. This meant I would have to get the patient to sign a liability form making them responsible for payment if they continued on with the next day surgery and the insurance company decided to decline the procedure afterwards. The patients only other option was to postpone the procedure if they could and wait for the insurance decision.
  • Used my excellent computer skills to quickly learn two different times how to operate all the different unique computer programs I had to use. Once before and another time after multiple major computer updates were made to the St. Lukes operating system that my department used.
  • Continued to increase my vast experience of customer service while working with both patients and insurance companies on the phone in order to resolve any issues and make sure all sides, including St. Lukes, were covered and satisfied by any means necessary
  • This originally was a temp job thru Express Employment but after working there for 3 months I was offered a permanent positionby ST. Lukes but decided this was not the career path I wanted. I also had the chance to pursue the real estate venture mentioned above before it was too late
