Transition Arrangements
This qualification has been reviewed and replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Textile Machine Setting (Level 5) [Ref: 2980].
The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2016.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Competenz at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Purpose
This is a national diploma for people working in the textile industry.
The qualification recognises a broad range of advanced textile manufacturing skills and knowledge. The flexible nature of the elective requirements enables candidates and employers to structure the training so the candidate can gain the skills and knowledge specific to the technology in his/her workplace. Candidates can choose to either specialise in one area of textile production or gain skills in a range of textile production processes.
The elective requirements also allow candidates to gain skills and knowledge at level 5 or above from areas outside Textiles Manufacture. This will enable candidates and employers to structure the qualification to in order to achieve the mix of knowledge and skills most appropriate for their needs.
This qualification builds on the skills and knowledge recognised by level 4 National Certificates in Textiles Manufacture. Competenz has also registered National Diplomas for the textile dyeing and finishing, weaving, and woollen yarn processing sectors.

Requirements for Award of Qualification
This qualification will be awarded to people who have met the requirements of both the Textiles Manufacture and NQF elective sections.
Award of NQF Qualifications
Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.
Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided in the Qualifications Authority Rules and Procedures publications available at
Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (Id). Any version of a standard with the same Id may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the Id and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.
