Teacher (K-12) English, Theatre, Technical Theatre

Taught high school Theatre, Technical Theatre, and English (9-12th grades). Established, organized, and directed a highly productive Theatre program, receiving national and local recognition, as well as television coverage for scenic design, and complex staging of productions ranging from dramatic, to vast musicals with incorporated stage flying, pyrotechnics, and casts of over 100. Productions included extensive use of film (8mm and digital), and sound. Responsibilities included publicity, news media releases, and desktop layouts of programs, fliers, tickets, and brochures. Taught basics of radio, television and film.

Responsible for financial and structural management of the program and its productions, and the development of a booster support program, and public fund-raising events. Trained all staff in technical support positions, including lighting and sound engineering, and stage management.

One of only two Maryland teachers to win this award, and sail aboard Pride of Baltimore II as crew member and Teacher Ambassador. Award based on skills (teaching, sailing, photography, video production, writing, public relations and communication, computer/electronics usage), recommendations, and interview. Duties included establishing liaisons with 13 schools and organizations in 8 countries. Involved in public relations at each port. Photographed and videotaped three month journey transatlantic. Wrote shipboard logs posted to the internet for cross-continent sharing during the journey: Organized, prepared and scheduled transatlantic conference communications. Utilized onboard SatNav equipment for ship to shore communications.
